SWEET AND TANGY PEPPER SPREAD



Sweet and Tangy Pepper Spread image

Yum, this dip is quite tasty. It's sweet, savory and smoky. The marmalade and balsamic reduction give the dip a sweet and unique flavor. We loved the smokiness from the Gouda and bacon. Bell peppers add a crisp bite to the dip. Serving with buttery crackers is perfect. They add a nice saltiness that complements the dip really well. But try this with your favorite dippers.

8 ounce(s) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup(s) orange marmalade
8 ounce(s) bacon, cooked and crumbled
1/2 cup(s) smoked Gouda cheese, shredded
2 teaspoon(s) balsamic reduction
1 large bell pepper, any color
3 small bell peppers, any color

Steps:

  • Beat cream cheese and marmalade together with a hand mixer until well blended.
  • Stir in meat, cheese, and balsamic reduction. Set aside.
  • Cut off the tops of the peppers. Remove seeds and pith to make four "bowls." Reserve the three small tops as "lids."
  • Finely chop the large pepper top.
  • Stir into the cream cheese mixture.
  • Fill pepper "bowls" with the mixture. Chill until ready to serve. Serve with crackers or chips.
  • NOTE: If you like more chunks of peppers in your spread, just chop all of the pepper tops instead of keeping the small ones intact as "lids."

1 container (8 ounces) sharp Cheddar cold-pack cheese spread
1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 container (8 ounces) soft cream cheese with garden vegetables
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil leaves
1 container (8 ounces) Swiss-almond cold-pack cheese spread
1/4 cup chopped red and/or yellow bell peppers
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
48 crackers

Steps:

  • Spread Cheddar cheese into 5-inch round, about 1/2 inch thick, on serving platter; smooth side and top with small metal spatula. Sprinkle mushrooms over cheese; press lightly.
  • Spread cream cheese over mushrooms; smooth side and top. Sprinkle with basil; press lightly.
  • Top with Swiss-almond cheese; smooth side and top. Sprinkle bell peppers over top. Press parsley into side. Serve with crackers.

2 tablespoons chopped green onion
1 ½ teaspoons chopped fresh dill
¼ cup heavy whipping cream
3 dashes Worcestershire sauce
3 drops hot pepper sauce
1 squeeze fresh lemon juice

Steps:

  • Process cream cheese in a food processor to soften completely; add salmon, capers, green onion, dill, cream, Worcestershire sauce, hot pepper sauce, and lemon juice. Process the mixture again until creamy and smooth.
