HEATH TOFFEE BIT BARS - EASY SNACK

Steps:

• With an electric mixer, cream the brown sugar & butter on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
• Beat in the egg yolk, vanilla, and salt.
• With the mixer on low speed, gradually add the flour and mix until just combined.
• The dough will be slightly stiff.
• Pat dough evenly into the bottom of an 8x8 pan lined with parchment paper.
• Bake at 350 degrees until pale golden on top, about 15-20 minutes.
• For the topping:
• Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the crust.
• Return pan to the oven for 1 to 2 minutes until the chocolate chips are beginning to melt.
• Remove the pan from the oven and spread the chocolate evenly over the crust.
• Sprinkle the pecans and Heath bar toffee pieces evenly over the chocolate.
• Let cool completely in the pan. Use a sharp knife to cut into small squares.

HEATH BAR TOFFEE COFFEE CAKE

Steps:

• Set oven to 350 degrees.
• Butter a 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
• In a medium bowl using an electric mixer on low speed, beat together flour, brown sugar, white sugar, butter and salt until the mixture resembles coarse meal.
• Transfer 1/2 cup butter mixture to a bowl and mix in chopped Heath bars (or toffee bits (if using) mini chocolate chips and pecans; set aside.
• Stir in the baking soda into the remaining butter/sugar mixture (not the one that you set aside).
• Add in buttermilk, egg and vanilla; beat until JUST combined.
• Transfer to prepared baking dish.
• Sprinkle with reserved toffee topping evenly over batter.
• Bake for about 35 minutes, or until golden brown and the cake tests done.
• Cool completely in baking dish and cut into squares.
