Soft ginger cookie. Tastes better after a few days in storage. My mom's recipe.

Steps:
- Cream the shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water. Mix in the flour, salt, ginger, nutmeg, cloves and cinnamon. Cover and chill for 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (205 degrees C).
- Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto ungreased cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for about 8 minutes.

ROASTED BUTTERNUT SQUASH CREAM SOUP WITH GINGER
This is our favorite butternut squash soup and the whole family loves it. I usually make a huge pot of soup and freeze parts of it before adding the cream. I like my soup thick, so I don't add a ton of vegetable broth, but feel free to thin it out with more broth.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Brush cut side of butternut squash with olive oil and place on a baking sheet, cut-side down.
- Bake in the preheated oven until peel is crinkly and butternut squash is soft, about 40 minutes. Scrape flesh into a bowl with a spoon and set aside.
- Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat and cook onions until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add squash flesh, 2 cups hot broth, and ginger. Season with ginger, curry, cumin, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring soup to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer until flavors are well combined, about 15 minutes.
- Puree soup with an immersion blender until smooth. Add more hot broth for a thinner soup. Stir in cream and season to taste with sugar, apple cider vinegar, cayenne pepper, and salt.

These are a wonderful molasses cookie & the vanilla frosting is so smooth and creamy! They have been a family favorite for years!:-) Ooh, they freeze well too.

Steps:
- FOR COOKIES: Mix together sugar, water, molasses, shortening and egg.
- Sift together remaining dry ingredients and add to molasses mixture.
- Bake@ 400 for 8 minutes.
- Cool~ Frost with Vanilla Frosting.
- FOR FROSTING: Mix together sugar and butter; beat in vanilla and enough milk to make it smooth and of spreading consistency.

Steps:
- In a medium saucepan, off heat, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, and salt until blended. Gradually whisk in milk.
- Cook over medium, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until custard thickens slightly and evenly coats back of spoon (it should hold a line drawn by your finger), 10 to 12 minutes.
- Stir ginger into custard. Cover and let stand 30 minutes.
- Pour custard through a fine-mesh sieve into a bowl set over ice. Stir in cream. Let stand, stirring occasionally, until chilled. Churn in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer ice cream to a resealable plastic container and freeze until firm, about 2 hours.

Using electric mixer, beat cream in medium bowl until peaks form. Fold in ginger mixture. (Can be made 4 hours ahead. Cover and chill.)

- Use your small digital scales to carefully weigh out all the oils (excluding essential oils) and Emulsifying Wax into a heatproof container.
- Place the rose water and distilled water into a separate heatproof container, you can actually add the preservative to the water at this point but as there’s a chance it could easily overheat, I prefer to add it later at cool down phase.
- Place both containers into a pan of simmering water; use 2 separate ones if you can’t fit both containers in. You need to keep the jars off of the bottom of the pan to help protect the oils from the direct heat. I use the top part of a stacking steamer placed in a larger pan and this works great. You can also use trays in the bottom, or you can use a double boiler.
