Fresas con Crema is a traditional Mexican dessert recipe that's made with sweetened condensed milk, whipping cream, sour cream, and strawberries.

32 ounces fresh strawberries (, hulled)
16 ounces sour cream ((or plain greek yogurt))
2/3 cup evaporated milk
2/3 cup heavy whipping cream
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk (, la lechera)
1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Slice the strawberries into thin slices.
  • Add the sour cream, evaporated milk, heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk and vanilla to a mixing bowl. Beat with electric mixers for 2 minutes.
  • Spoon 1/2 cup of fresh sliced strawberries into a cup. Pour 1/2 cup of the cream mixture over the top.
  • Serve with whipped cream on top, if desired.Serves 8 (1 cup servings)

Sugar or honey to taste

  • Whip the sweet cream until it holds soft peaks, then fold it into the sour cream; add sugar to taste and liqueur if you like.
  • Put the berries in four to six bowls or stemmed glasses and top with the cream. If desired, garnish with a leaf of fresh mint.

1 cup heavy cream, chilled
2 cups fresh (or frozen) strawberries
1 Tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
a few strawberries, sliced, for garnish

Steps:

  • Place chilled heavy cream in a large mixing bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer.
  • Beat until light and fluffy, being careful not to overheat.
  • Set aside or chill until ready to use. (You might need to whisk it or beat it again for a few seconds if you don't use it right away and it separates.)
  • Place strawberries in a medium bowl.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and add vanilla extract.
  • Mash the strawberries, leaving some larger pieces.
  • Let stand for a few minutes.
  • Add about half of the mashed strawberries to the whipped cream, folding with a large silicone spatula.
  • Reserve the remaining strawberries to use when serving.
  • Spoon some of the cream into four serving glasses or dishes, top with some of the remaining mashed strawberries, and another spoonful or two of the cream and a few sliced strawberries.
  • Serve immediately, or place in fridge to chill until ready to serve.

4 ounces creamy melt and pour soap bars
1/4 cup distilled water
6 -10 drops strawberry fragrance oil
1/4 cup powdered milk
3 drops vanilla fragrance oil or 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 -5 drops red food coloring (optional)

Steps:

  • Grate the soap, or chop into tiny pieces using a very sharp knife.
  • Use a double boiler for this soap.
  • (or you can just use a heat-proof glass bowl over a pan of water- that's what I always do).
  • In top of double boiler combine the grated soap, water, dry milk powder.
  • Keep the water in bottom of double boiler simmering (about 2-3 cups of water).
  • Stir the mixture occasionally and allow it to melt down into a smooth consistency.
  • You can even whisk it with a wire whisk to get rid of any lumps.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add strawberry fragrance oil, vanilla fragrance oil (or extract) and the food coloring if you decide to use it.
  • It will add a nice pinkish color to the soap, making it look the color of strawberries and cream.
  • Spoon the soap out into soap molds and allow to sit for about twenty four hours before unmolding.
  • Then let it sit another couple of hours before using.
  • If you don't have soap molds, try using muffin tins, aluminum tart shells, or any candy molds that you have at home for miniature soaps.
  • Or you can spoon the mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan and then cut into it to make bars of soap.
  • Enjoy this wonderful soap!
