- In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, onion, dill, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. Just before serving, stir in cucumber. Serve with vegetables and/or crackers.

Steps:
- Gather the ingredients.
- Arrange cucumber slices in a serving bowl, sprinkling layers with salt.
- Place a saucer or other weight on cucumbers to weigh down. Cover and let stand for several hours.
- Pour off and discard excess cucumber juices.
- In a small bowl, whisk together sour cream, vinegar, and chopped dill. Taste and add freshly ground black pepper.

This is very simple and just as impressive. I've posted the full-fat version, but you can make this lower fat by using a low fat cream cheese and a low fat/no fat mayo. You can make this up to 48 hours in advance and it will taste great, just give it a stir before serving.
