Sardine Sweet Potato Bake For Dogs Recipes
SARDINE AND POTATO BAKE
This actually comes from Southern France and it is highly influenced by the Liguria region of Italy. In fact, it is difficult to say which region is home to this recipe. Posted for ZWT3.

Steps:
- Boil potatoes in a large pot of water, until barely tender, about 10 minutes. Drain and cool.
- When cooled, slice potatoes into 1/4" rounds.
- While potatoes are cooking, prepare sardines by slitting through the belly lengthwise. Turn so that skin is facing upwards and press down on backbone. Turn over and remove backbone.
- Heat the tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat and add onion and garlic. Sauté until softened.
- Arrange the potatoes in a well-oiled casserole dish and sprinkle with the onion mixture, parsley, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Place the open sardines (skin side down) on top of the potatoes and cover with tomato slices and other herbs.
- Pour wine over all. Cook uncovered at 300F for about 45 minutes, until fish is tender. If casserole is dry, add additional wine (by the tablespoon).

- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut sweet potato into 1/4-inch slices crosswise and cut larger slices in half. Place slices on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour. Turn slices over and bake for 1 1/2 hours more. Turn oven off and leave chews in the oven until completely cooled.

- Preheat the oven to 180C / 160C Fan / Gas 4.Cut a piece of baking or greaseproof paper to fit a baking tray approx 30 x 20 cm.
- Drain the sardines, but keep the liquid you've drained off.Put the sardines in a bowl and roughly mash with a fork.
- Add the oatmeal or other flour to the sardines.Add one tablespoon of the reserved liquid and mix together to form a dough, adding more liquid as needed without making the dough too wet.Briefly knead the dough on a surface dusted with oatmeal or flour to finish bringing it together.
- Put the cut piece of baking paper on the worksurface and sprinkle with a little more oatmeal or flour.Place the dough on top, sprinkle it and a rolling pin with more oatmeal or flour, then roll out thinly (2-3 mm) into a rough rectangle.Take a knife or pizza wheel and cut the dough into squares or smaller rectangles. Tip: neaten the rectangle first by cutting off the rough edges. These scraps of dough can then be re-rolled and cut into more biscuits with a cookie cutter if liked.
