SLOW-COOKER PINA COLADA BANANAS FOSTER
I took bananas Foster one step further and combined it with the flavors of my favorite tropical drink: a pina colada. Make sure you use underripe bananas, as their firm texture works best in this recipe. -Trisha Kruse, Eagle, Idaho

BANANAS FOSTER
The New York Times food editor Jane Nickerson first published this recipe in 1957 as part of an article on New Orleans-style Creole cooking. Adapted from Brennan's restaurant, this recipe is meant to be a showstopper. But it's deceptively easy. Be sure to have a lid at the ready to extinguish the flame in case things get out of hand. If you cannot find banana liqueur, just add a teaspoon more rum.

PINEAPPLE AND BANANAS FOSTER
this is a great New Orleans treat, created for breakfast, at Brennan's restaurant in the early 1950s. The original recipe is here transformed slightly by the inclusion of fresh pineapple, an attractive tropical touch. It's a great brunch dessert and you can make it at the stove, thus skipping the showy and risky tableside...
