Time 1h5m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 round refrigerated pie dough (half a 14-ounce package)
4 large eggs
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons melted unsalted butter
1 tablespoon honey whiskey
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

3 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 3/4 cup whole raw pecans

Steps:

Stir in the whole pecans, coating them evenly. Gently spoon the coated pecans over the pie and drizzle with any remaining syrup. Bake the pie until risen a bit and the pecans on top are crisp and caramelized, 15 to 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool to room temperature before serving.

HONEY PECAN PIE

Honey Pecan Pie image

I had never had this until recently. I had always made my pecan pies with Karo Syrup; however, this is a different recipe I found using honey instead of Karo and it gives this pie a decidedly different taste than the one I'm used to making.

Provided by Sherrybeth

Categories     Pie

Time 1h15m

Yield 6-8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 (9 inch) pie crusts, unbaked
1 cup honey
1/2 cup sugar
3 large eggs
1/4 cup butter, melted and cooled
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups pecan halves

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the honey, sugar and eggs. Beat well.
  • Add the vanilla extract and melted butter and mix well.
  • Slowly, by hand, stir in the pecans.
  • Pour into the unbaked pie shell and bake at 350 degrees for 50-55 minutes.
  • Filling will be firmer around the edges, but softer in the middle.
  • If your crust starts to get too brown, cover the edges with foil to prevent them from burning (or use one of those cute pie crust ring things if you have one, because they work really well).
  • Allow to cool completely before slicing.

MAPLE-HONEY PECAN PIE

Maple-Honey Pecan Pie image

Substituting a combination of maple syrup and honey for the usual corn syrup in pecan pie makes for a complex and richly flavored confection that's still wonderfully gooey in the center. This recipe also has double the amount of pecans compared with most recipes, giving it plenty of crunch. You can bake it the day before serving; it keeps very well at room temperature for at least 24 hours. It also freezes reasonably well for up to 3 months, though the crust won't be quite as flaky.

Provided by Melissa Clark

Categories     pies and tarts, dessert

Time 1h30m

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

All-purpose flour, for rolling out the dough
Dough for a 9-inch single crust pie
1/2 cup/115 grams unsalted butter
1/4 cup/85 grams maple syrup
1/4 cup/85 grams honey
1/2 cup/110 grams light brown sugar
1/2 cup/75 grams maple sugar or use more light brown sugar
3 large eggs, at room temperature
1 tablespoon bourbon (optional)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 1/2 cups/180 grams pecan halves
Flaky sea salt, such as Maldon (optional)

Steps:

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll dough into a 12-inch circle, and transfer to a 9-inch metal pie plate. Fold over any excess dough, crimping the edges. Transfer crust to the freezer for 30 minutes or up to 24 hours.
  • When ready to bake, place a rimmed baking sheet on the middle oven rack and heat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Heat a small saucepan and melt the butter over medium heat. Cook, swirling occasionally, until the foam subsides, the milk solids turn golden brown and the butter smells nutty and toasty, about 5 minutes. Add maple syrup to the pan and continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and reduces slightly, 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat, and whisk honey into the warm syrup mixture. Let cool at least 10 minutes.
  • While the syrup mixture cools, combine sugars, eggs, bourbon (if using), vanilla and salt in a large mixing bowl. Gradually pour syrup mixture into the egg mixture, whisking constantly, then use a rubber spatula to scrape in all the brown bits at the bottom of the pot.
  • Remove pie crust from freezer and place pecans along the bottom of the crust. Carefully pour the filling over the pecans. Place pie plate on the hot sheet pan and bake for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue to bake for another 35 to 45 minutes, until the center of the pie has puffed up and turned golden brown.
  • Transfer pie to a wire cooling rack, sprinkle with flaky sea salt, if you like, and allow to cool for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

HONEY-PECAN PUMPKIN PIE

Honey-Pecan Pumpkin Pie image

Categories     Dessert     Bake     Thanksgiving     Pecan     Pumpkin     Fall     Honey     Bon Appétit

Yield Serves 8

Number Of Ingredients 21

For pecans
6 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
Pinch of salt
1 cup pecan halves (about 4 ounces)
1 Easy Pastry Dough disk
For filling
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1 15-ounce can solid pack pumpkin
1/3 cup honey
1 cup whipping cream
4 large eggs
For topping
1 cup chilled whipping cream
2 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Make pecans:
  • Place large piece of foil on work surface. Stir sugar, honey, butter and salt in heavy medium skillet over medium-low heat until sugar dissolves, butter melts and syrup comes to simmer. Add pecans. Cook until syrup turns deep caramel color and bubbles thickly, stirring nuts occasionally to coat, about 9 minutes. Scrape onto foil. Working quickly, separate nuts with spoon. Cool completely. Place in airtight container. (Can be made 3 days ahead. Store at room temperature.)
  • Make pie:
  • Position rack in lowest third of oven and preheat to 350°F. Roll out dough disk on floured surface to 12- to 13-inch round. Transfer to 9-inch-diameter glass pie dish. Fold overhang under; crimp edge, forming high-standing rim.
  • Stir sugar and next 5 ingredients in large bowl. Whisk in pumpkin and honey, then cream and 3 eggs. Beat 1 egg in small bowl to blend. Brush inside of crust with some of beaten egg. Pour filling into crust.
  • Bake pie until filling is slightly puffed and begins to crack at edges, covering crust with foil if browning too quickly, about 1 hour. Cool on rack. (Can be made 8 hours ahead. Store at room temperature.)
  • Make topping:
  • Using electric mixer, beat cream and honey in medium bowl until stiff peaks form. Spoon into pastry bag fitted with star tip. Pipe rosettes of cream atop pie. Garnish with candied nuts. Serve, passing extra nuts separately.

HONEY CRUNCH PECAN PIE

Honey Crunch Pecan Pie image

This recipe is an adoptee from the RecipeZaar account. I changed the recipe slightly because the crust ingredients were entered incorrectly by the original owner of this recipe (unless the crust was really made of 1/3 cup flour and 1/2 cup crisco, which I highly doubt). Anyway, this is a very good pecan pie; I think the honey added to the topping is really nice. I hope you enjoy it!

HONEY PECAN PIE

Honey Pecan Pie image

This wonderful recipe uses all honey, and no sugar or karo syrup. The end result is better than your standard pie, since the honey and the nuts accentuate each other. Plus, this is so easy to make!

Provided by oilpatchjo

Categories     Pie

Time 1h15m

Yield 1 pie, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 cup honey (use something on the sweet side, like Orange Blossom, Fireweed, or Killer Bee)
3 eggs, beaten
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 pinch nutmeg
1 deep dish pie shell

Steps:

  • Boil the honey. (It will boil quickly, so watch carefully - you do not want to scorch it!)
  • Quickly add eggs and mix well. (For the experienced cooks out there - yes, this sounds odd, but it does work.)
  • Add everything else and mix well.
  • Pour into pie shell. (You can sprinkle pecan halves on top at this point, if you wish.)
  • Bake at 325 degree oven for 30-45 minutes, or until the center is set.
