3 c pinto beans, dried
2 large onions, chopped
4 clove garlic, chopped
2 Tbsp salt
1 Tbsp cummin
2 can(s) roasted green chilies
1 large can tomatoe
2 medium cans tomatoe sauce
1 c taco sauce
2 lb ground meat
2 tsp chili powder

Steps:

  • 1. Soak beans in cold water overnight, drain, wash and cover with 2 inches of water, add salt and cook on moderate heat slow boil for one hour.
  • 2. Now add onions,garlic chopped green chilies, taco sauce, tomatoes and spices. Cook over low heat for one or two hours or until beans are tender. Meat should be browned before added to beans. ENJOY

I've had this recipe for years. It's a great dish for a meatless meal.

2 pounds pinto beans
2 large onions, chopped
2 teaspoons salt or other seasoning
pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
1 (4 ounce) can green chilies, diced
1 (4 ounce) can taco sauce
1 (28 ounce) can tomatoes

Steps:

  • 1. Wash and soak beans in cold water overnight. Drain and add new water to cover 2" above beans. Boil 1 hour and skim off foam. Add remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to simmer and cook 4-6 hours.

1 lb beef, Coarsely ground
1 lb dried pinto bean
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
2 cups onions, Chopped
3 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon cumin, Ground
salt

Steps:

  • Soak beans in water overnight.
  • In a large Dutch oven, cook beef until browned, stirring to keep crumbly.
  • Drain off drippings, if needed.
  • Add tomato paste, onions and drained beans.
  • Mix chili powder, cumin and season to taste with salt.
  • Stir into mixture.
  • Bring to boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer until beans are tender, about 5 hours.
