2 medium onions, sliced
4 tablespoons butter, divided
4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
8 slices sourdough bread
8 slices Monterey Jack cheese
8 slices Canadian bacon
8 thin slices cooked turkey
Dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, saute onions in 1 tablespoon butter until tender; remove and set aside. Spread barbecue sauce on 4 slices of bread. Layer each with 1 slice of cheese, 2 slices each of bacon and turkey, pickle slices, onions and another slice of cheese. Cover with remaining slices of bread. , In the same skillet over medium-low heat, melt remaining butter. Cook sandwiches on both sides until golden brown and cheese is melted. Cover the skillet during the last few minutes to help melt cheese if necessary.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 pound(s) high quality deli sliced turkey
8 slice(s) sour dough or white bread
8 slice(s) provelone cheese
8 slice(s) thinly sliced roma tomato
6-8 tablespoon(s) mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Spread 1/2 Tbsp. butter on each slice of bread. Place 4 slices of bread, butter side down on a cookie sheet. Top each piece evenly with 1/4 lb. turkey and top with 2 slices of provelone cheese then boil until cheese melts.
  • Top sandwiches with remaining bread, butter side up.
  • Broil on high until bread is toasted, about 4 minutes per side in my oven. Flip and toast bottom side. Remove from oven.
  • Remove bottom slice of bread, spread on mayonnaise and add tomato slices. Replace bottom slice bread, cut in half and serve.
