Another recipe to use with the Jumbo Vidalia Onions. Don't forget large means Jumbo for these Vidalia Onions recipes.

1 large vidalia onion
1 beef bouillon cube
butter or margarine

Steps:

  • Peel Vidalia and scoop out middle leaving a hole the size of a quarter through entire Vidalia. (I would not brake through he bottom of the onion so flavor stays in the onion).
  • Place Vidalia in baking dish.
  • Inset bouillon cube in bottom of hole and fill the rest with butter.
  • Cook at 350°F for 30-45 minutes or until tender.

This is the same recipe but with instructions for the microwave oven. I prefer the onion being roasted in the oven, but somedays you just need it fast.

1 large vidalia onion
1 beef bouillon cube
butter or margarine

Steps:

  • Peel Vidalia and scoop out middle leaving a hole the size of a quarter through entire Vidalia. (I would not brake through he bottom of the onion so flavor stays in the onion).
  • Place Vidalia in baking dish.
  • Inset bouillion cube in bottom of hole and fill the rest with butter.
  • Wrap vidalia (with bouillion and butter inside) loosely in plastic wrap and cook on high for 7-9 minutes.
  • Be careful when removing plastic wrap from cooked Vidalia.

4 large vidalia onions
4 tablespoons butter or 4 tablespoons margarine
Italian dressing, for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cut stem and root off onions and place stem side up in center of aluminum foil. Place one tablespoon of butter or margerine on top of each onion, then wrap up so that the foil has a point on top. Make sure it is wrapped good.
  • Place onions on a baking sheet and bake for 1-2 hours, depending on how soft you want them.
  • When finished, open up the top of the tin foil and pour the Italian dressing on top to taste. I like to use a lot.

1 tablespoon oil
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Peel onions, leaving bases intact and place in a baking dish.
  • Combine butter and oil in a bowl.
  • Brush onions liberally with mixture.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown.
