BAKED FIGS WITH CHOPPED PISTACHIOS IN MASCARPONE
Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- For each fig, cut a cross over the stem end, just deep enough to gently squeeze the fig open. Place on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 5 to 10 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the honey and mascarpone in a bowl. Coarsely chop the pistachio nuts, and then add them to the bowl. Remove figs from the oven. Place on a serving plate and top with mascarpone mixture. Garnish with cinnamon and grated dark chocolate.
BAKED FIGS WITH GRAPPA
Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- With a paring knife, partially cut open the figs in half making sure to keep the fig intact. Add 1 to 2 almonds in each fig and press together to close.
- Place the figs in a baking dish and sprinkle with sugar. Add the remaining almonds and grappa to the baking dish. Bake the figs for 20 minutes, or until the figs are slightly golden.

- Preheat oven to 325°. Prick holes in figs with a fork; place in a greased 8-in. square baking dish. In a small bowl, combine orange juice, liqueur and cloves. Sprinkle sugar over figs; pour juice mixture over the top., Bake, uncovered, 45-55 minutes or until tender, basting occasionally with juice mixture. Serve warm with whipped cream.

- Preheat oven to 300°F.
- Prick bottom of each fig several times and stand figs in a buttered 9- to 10-inch flameproof gratin dish or ovenproof skillet. Sprinkle figs with 1/3 cup sugar, then add water to dish.
- Bake figs in middle of oven, basting twice with pan juices, until tender, about 30 minutes. Transfer dish to stovetop, then add 1/4 cup Grand Marnier and bring to a boil over moderately high heat. Remove from heat and carefully ignite pan juices. After flames subside, juices should be syrupy. If pan juices are too thin, transfer figs to a shallow serving bowl, then boil juices until syrupy and slightly thickened, 3 to 5 minutes, and pour over figs.
- Beat cream with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar and tablespoon liqueur using an electric mixer until it holds soft peaks.
- Serve figs, warm or at room temperature, with syrup and cream.

- Heat oven to 400 degrees. Cut goat cheese into 6 thick slices. Line an 8-by 12-inch earthenware baking dish with fig leaves (if using). Arrange goat cheese in center of dish and surround with fig halves. Season lightly with salt and pepper, then sprinkle with thyme. Drizzle with olive oil.
- Bake uncovered for 15 minutes, until both cheese and figs are softened. Run under broiler for 1 minute to brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
