For this drink, we like to use Laird's Applejack, an American apple brandy.

- Combine apple cider with apple brandy, dry vermouth, and bitters. Divide between 2 ice-filled glasses, and garnish each with an orange twist.

Steps:
- Combine sugar and water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat., Place apples in a large glass or plastic container; add the sugar mixture, brandy, cloves and cinnamon stick. Cover and let stand at room temperature for at least two weeks, stirring once a week., Strain brandy mixture; discard apples and spices. Pour into glass bottles. Place an additional three cloves and one cinnamon stick in each bottle.

- Mix first 10 ingredients in large saucepan. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer mixture 30 minutes to blend flavors. Strain mulled cider into mugs. Serve cider, passing applejack brandy separately, if desired.
APPLEJACK BRANDY CIDER
This is a very tasty, but strong fall hard cider recipe. It is great to serve on Thanksgiving! The recipe is per glass, but your best bet is to heat an entire gallon on the stove on a low heat.
