  • Carne Guisada. A classic Spanish recipe that is packed with flavor is carne guisada. This dish simmers together potatoes and ground beef so that every spoonful is just as good as the last.
  • Spanish Rice. White steamed rice should be saved for more simplistic meals. When you need to take things to the next level, you need to make some delicious traditional Spanish food like this rice.
  • Churros. Who could forget the classic Spanish dessert, churros. A crispy bread roll with a soft doughy middle completely covered in cinnamon. All you really need is a sweet chocolate sauce to dip them in and you’ll be set for the night.
  • Tortilla Española. Even though this dish says it’s a tortilla it’s actually a Spanish version of an omelet with tender potatoes thrown into the mix. Nothing too fancy here except the taste.
  • Spiced Spanish Hot Chocolate. On a cold day, nothing beats a hot glass of hot cocoa but when you have a spiced-up Spanish version, you may never go back to regular.

TOCAR IN SPANISH: 6 DIFFERENT MEANINGS EXPLAINED - BASELANG

From baselang.com
Estimated Reading Time 6 mins
  • To talk about the sense of physical touch. The most common use of tocar is for describing touching things, people, or animals with your hands, or any other part of your body.
  • To talk about music and sounds. The one may seem strange at first for an English speaker. The Spanish verb tocar is used as “to play” when talking about playing an instrument, or playing a song with an instrument, or basically, any kind of object that produces sound, such as a doorbell, a bell, etc.
  • To touch on a topic. When you barely talk about a topic without giving any specifics, you can replace hablar (to talk) with tocar to say that you touched on the topic.
  • To say that it is someone’s turn. Instead of saying “es tu turno” (it’s your turn), you can use the verb tocar to express exactly the same thing. Give the PSP to your brother because it’s his turn to play – Dale el PSP a tu hermano que le toca jugar.
  • To explain an obligation. Normally we use “tener que” (to have to) structure to express an obligation. While that’s common, you can also use tocar to express the same thing.
