1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • put the milk, water and oatmeal in a pot, heat it up. stir it a little when its begining to boil, add the salt. then when it has boiled, you are ready to eat.

1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 cup oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • You just put the milk, water and the oats all in a pot, stir it a little so it mixes.
  • Heat it on medium high heat and wait for it to boil. As it is heating, put the salt (I maybe say 1/8 teaspoon salt, but in depends how salty you want it).
  • When it has boiled, you are ready to eat ;).

3 cups water
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 2/3 cups rolled oats
2/3 cup raisins or 2/3 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup molasses
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped walnuts or 1/4 cup pecans
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
milk or whipping cream

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • Bring the water and salt to boil in a heavy saucepan.
  • Reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Add oats and cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Transfer oatmeal to 6-cup casserole dish.
  • Add all remaining ingredients except milk and stir until well combined.
  • Bake until set, about 1 hour.
  • Divide the porridge into bowls.
  • Serve with milk.

1 cup steel cut oats
2 cups water
1 tablespoon blackstrap molasses (if you're not used to blackstrap molasses, use less the first time)
2 teaspoons brown sugar
1/4 cup crushed pineapple with juice
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, combine oats, water, molasses and brown sugar.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Stir in pineapple and cinnamon.
  • If desired, you could add some raisins, currants or other dried fruit.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally and adding additional water if necessary to prevent sticking.
  • Cook until water is absorbed and oats are cooked.

Perfect porridge for a healthy way to start the day

50g porridge oats
350ml milk or water, or a mixture of the two
Greek yogurt, thinned with a little milk and clear honey, to serve

Steps:

  • Put 50g porridge oats in a saucepan, pour in 350ml milk or water and sprinkle in a pinch of salt. Bring to the boil and simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring from time to time and watching carefully that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • Or you can try this in a microwave. Mix the porridge oats, milk or water and a pinch of salt in a large microwaveproof bowl, then microwave on High for 5 minutes, stirring halfway through. Leave to stand for 2 minutes before eating.
  • To serve, pour into bowls, spoon Greek yogurt, thinned with a little milk, on top and drizzle with honey.
