Hummus is one of our favorite foods because it's delicious, nutrient dense, easy to make, and incredibly versatile! We created this taco hummus recipe as a delicious March Madness snack idea. Pair with colorful veggies, toasted pita, or tortilla chips for a slam dunk snack!

15 ounce can low-sodium chickpeas, drained and rinsed
¼ cup tahini
¼ - ½ cup water
2 Tablespoons avocado oil
½ lime, juiced ((~1 Tablespoon))
2 small garlic cloves
1 Tablespoon taco seasoning
Salt to taste

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth and creamy. Start with ¼ cup water, then increase until desired consistency.
  • Add salt to taste. Place in a serving bowl and top with desired garnishes. Enjoy!

30 oz. canned chickpeas ((Drained and rinsed. No sugar added.))
1 medium lemon ((juice only))
½ cup tahini sauce
½ tsp. salt
1 tbsp. garlic powder
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. ground cumin
water ((optional - as much as you need for the consistency you like))

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in your food processor and blend until smooth.

Taco Hummus takes your favorite taco seasonings and blends them into a creamy dip that is seriously addictive.

1 15-ounce can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons tahini
1/2 cup roasted red peppers, rough chopped
1/2 cup onion, rough chopped
2 cloves garlic, smashed
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon pink Himalayan salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/4 teaspoon chipotle powder (adjust for desired spice level)

Steps:

  • Add all the ingredients to the bowl of a food processor or blender. Pulse to combine the ingredients, then blend until smooth and creamy, about 3 minutes.
  • You may need to add a little more liquid depending on your desired consistency. Add a little more Greek yogurt, or use extra virgin olive oil or aquafaba. Before removing the hummus from the blender, taste for seasoning, and adjust if necessary.
  • Place hummus in an airtight container, and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
  • Before serving, place in a shallow bowl, or spread in a thick layer on a plate for a pretty presentation. Top with a drizzle of oil and any other toppings you like.

I love hummus. But buying it in the store can get pricey. Especially when it is so cheap and easy to make. I have tried a couple of different ways to make it. I found this recipe, with the taco seasoning, to be really yummy on chips.

1 can(s) chick peas
2 Tbsp tahini
3 Tbsp olive oil
3 Tbsp lemon juice
3 Tbsp taco seasoning mix
water

Steps:

  • 1. Drain can of chick peas and rinse well. I have heard that if you gently pinch the skin off of the chick peas before adding them to the food processor, you will get a smoother hummus. I have never done it, but it can be done that way.
  • 2. Put chick peas, tahini, olive oil, and lemon juice into food processor. Start processor to mix. I add water as needed for a smooth consistency. You can add as much water as you like to get it where you want it. Process about 2 minutes until smooth.
  • 3. Add taco seasoning and mix well in processor. Taste and add more seasoning if you would like a stronger flavor.
  • 4. When fully mixed, remove and place in bowl. It can be served immediately, but I find it tastes better if you allow it to chill and absorb all the flavors. Enjoy with chips, on bread, with veggies, on a wrap or in a salad.

An easy flavorful hummus dip with homemade tortilla chips.

4 Old El Paso™ flour tortillas for soft taco & fajitas (6 inch)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 teaspoon Old El Paso™ taco seasoning mix (from 1-oz package)
1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ chickpeas (garbanzo beans), undrained
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 clove garlic, chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro, if desired
1/4 cup crumbled queso fresco cheese, if desired

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray cookie sheet with cooking spray.
  • To make tortilla chips, lightly brush both sides of each tortilla with water. Lightly sprinkle taco seasoning mix over both sides of each tortilla. Cut each tortilla into 8 wedges; place on cookie sheet. Bake 4 to 5 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, to make hummus, drain chickpeas, reserving liquid. In blender or food processor, place chickpeas, oil, lemon juice, garlic and remaining 1 tablespoon taco seasoning mix. Cover; blend until smooth. Add reserved chickpea liquid, 1 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency.
  • Garnish hummus with cilantro and queso fresco. Serve with tortilla chips.

  • A tasty snack.
