Sweet Simmered Pork Chops image

A sweet simmering sauce that works great with pork chops, chicken, etc. Makes everything super tender. My kids love it!

1 cup barbecue sauce
½ cup brown sugar
2 (16 ounce) cans Dr Pepper® soda
½ teaspoon minced garlic
½ teaspoon black pepper
8 pork chops

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
  • In a bowl, stir together the barbecue sauce, brown sugar, soda, garlic, and pepper until the sugar has dissolved. Set the sauce aside. Place the pork chops on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake the pork chops in the preheated oven until the juices start to run clear and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a chop reads 120 degrees F (49 degrees C.) Transfer the pork chops to a baking dish big enough to lay the chops into the dish without overlapping. Pour the sauce over the chops, and cover the dish with foil.
  • Bake the chops until no longer pink in the center, about 25 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read 165 degrees F (75 degrees C).

2 tablespoons canola oil
8 boneless pork loin chops (3/4 inch thick and 8 ounces each)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
1/2 cup each ketchup, barbecue sauce, French salad dressing and honey

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. In batches, brown pork chops 2-3 minutes on each side. Return all to pan., In a small bowl, mix remaining ingredients; pour over chops. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 4-5 minutes or until a thermometer reads 145°. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Freeze option: Place pork chops in freezer containers; top with sauce. Cool and freeze. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Heat through in a covered saucepan, gently stirring sauce and adding a little water if necessary.

6 boneless pork loin chops (4 ounces each)
3/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water

Steps:

  • Sprinkle pork chops with pepper. In a large skillet coated with cooking spray, cook pork over medium heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until lightly browned. Remove and keep warm. , Add the water, vinegar, brown sugar, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce to skillet; stir to loosen browned bits. Bring to a boil. Combine cornstarch and cold water until smooth; stir into skillet. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. , Return chops to the pan. 6 -8 lamb chops
2 ounces butter
2 onions, peeled & sliced
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 tablespoons flour
4 teaspoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons curry powder
2 tablespoons fruit chutney
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon dry mustard
4 tablespoons white vinegar
1 1/2 cups water
2 tablespoons chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Melt butter in pan, add chops, brown well on both sides (I always well cook the chops at this stage).
  • Arrange browned/cooked chops in a single layer in an oven-proof dish.
  • Add onions to remaining pan drippings, cook 1-2 minutes, remove from pan, and put on top of chops.
  • Place flour, sugar, curry, mustard and ginger in saucepan, mix well.
  • Add vinegar, blend until smooth.
  • Add water, tomato sauce and chutney, stir constantly over heat until mixture boils and thickens.
  • Pour thickened sauce over the chops and onions, cover.
  • Bake in moderate oven for 1.5-2 hours or until chops are tender.
  • Stir in chopped parsley (To save time you can microwave the whole lot at this stage until the chops are tender, also cooking the chops well at the beginning will also save time).

6 pork loin chops (about 3/4 inch thick)
1/2 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1-1/2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water

Steps:

  • Place pork chops in a 13x9-in. baking dish. In a bowl, combine pineapple juice, ketchup, honey, vinegar, mustard and salt. Pour over the chops. Cover and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake about 30 minutes longer or until the meat is tender. Remove chops to a serving platter and keep warm. Strain pan juices into a saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water; add to pan juices. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly; cook and stir 2 minutes longer. Serve immediately over chops.

OVEN-BAKED SWEET BBQ CHOPS



Oven-Baked Sweet BBQ Chops image

These have a really good sweet onion BBQ sauce on them. At first I thought that 1/4 c. would be way too much onion, but it cooks in really well, and the sauce isn't overpowered by them at all. The original recipe called for this amount of sauce on 5 chops, but I usually only put in 3 chops (I'm not a fan of left-over meat and I'm only cooking for 2). If you were to make 5 chops, I would suggest doubling the sauce. Also, depending on the type of chop, you may not need to cook as long (I've used small boneless loin chops and they only took about 1 hr 15 min)
