1 box favorite boxed cake mix, plus ingredients to make the cake
2 can(s) white frosting, 16 oz each
1 tube(s) Wilton gel, pink
1 tube(s) Wilton gel, black
1 tube(s) Wilton squeezable frosting, purple
DECORATIONS
1 bag(s) jelly beans
1 bag(s) Sixlets, purple
spring colored sprinkles

Steps:

  • 1. Mix cake according to directions.
  • 2. Pour into two round cake pans.
  • 3. Bake cakes according to directions.
  • 4. Completely cool cakes.
  • 5. Gather decorating supplies.
  • 6. Cut cakes according to diagram.
  • 7. Assemble cake according to the diagram to resemble a bunny.
  • 8. Start to frost the cake. Be sure to fill in any gaps and be careful to not spread too many crumbs.
  • 9. Clean up the edges with a paper towel.
  • 10. Completely cover the cake with white frosting.
  • 11. Outline the bow tie.
  • 12. Add sprinkles and Sixlets candies.
  • 13. Use black jelly beans for the eyes.
  • 14. Add a pink jelly bean for the nose and pink gel for the mouth.
  • 15. Black gel creates whiskers.
  • 16. Pipe pink gel for the ears.
  • 17. White jelly beans around the head.
  • 18. Add pink jelly beans around the ears.
  • 19. For easier cutting, place the decorated cake in the fridge for about an hour to firm up.

A simple version of a coconut white cake shaped like a bunny head!

1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
3 ¾ cups flaked coconut
1 (16 ounce) package vanilla frosting
30 small jellybeans
4 red licorice

Steps:

  • Heat oven and prepare two 9 inch round baking pans as directed on cake box. Prepare cake batter with as directed on package adding in 1/2 cup of coconut. Divide batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake and cool cake as directed on package.
  • When cooled, place one whole 9 inch cake layer on serving tray, forming the bunny's head. Cut 2 convex shaped ears from each side of the second layer, place on each side of head to form ears. Use concave shaped piece for the bowtie, place about 1/2 inch below head.
  • Frost entire bunny covering top and sides of bunny. Pat remaining 3 1/4 cup coconut evenly over top and sides. Decorate the bunny face and bowtie with jellybeans and use the licorice to make whiskers.

  • Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans). Spray or grease bottoms only of two 9-inch round cake pans. Make cake batter as directed on box.
  • Divide cake batter evenly among 3 separate bowls (about 1 cup for each bowl). Dye each bowl a different color with pink, purple or yellow food color. Pour half of the purple batter into each of the 9-inch round pans. Pour half of the yellow batter over top of the purple layer in each pan. Pour half of pink batter over yellow batter in each pan. Do not mix.
  • Bake and cool cake as directed on box for two 9-inch rounds. Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • Place one of the cooled cake rounds on serving tray. Cut other round cake as shown in Diagram A below and place ears and bow tie of the bunny in appropriate places on the tray.
