STRAWBERRY SPINACH SALAD WITH POPPY SEED DRESSING

Strawberry Spinach Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing image

Simple spinach salad with fresh strawberries, canned mandarin oranges, sliced almonds and goat cheese, all with a homemade poppy seed dressing.

Provided by Jennifer

Categories     Salad

Time 10m

Number Of Ingredients 14

4 cups baby spinach
5 oz mandarin orange segments (canned, drained, about 1/2 small can)
6 medium strawberries (halved)
1/4 cup sliced almonds
1/4 cup red onion (thinly sliced (optional))
1/3 cup Goat cheese (crumbled)
5 Tbsp white vinegar
1 Tbsp cider vinegar
2 1/2 Tbsp white granulated sugar (or 1 Tbsp honey)
3/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp dried mustard powder
1/4 cup onion (finely diced)
1 cup vegetable oil (or other neutral tasting oil)
1 Tbsp poppy seeds

Steps:

  • To make the Poppy Seed Dressing: In a food processor or blender, add the white and cider vinegars, sugar, salt, mustard powder and onion. Process or blend for 30-45 seconds, or until pureed. With the food processor or blender running on high speed, very slowly start adding the oil, in a very slow, steady stream, until all the oil is added. Add the poppy seeds and blend briefly to combine. Use dressing immediately or put in a jar with a lid and refrigerate until needed. *Note: Dressing will separate as it sits in the fridge. Just shake it in the jar to mix it back up again before using.
  • For the salad: Add the baby spinach to a bowl. Add the strawberries, mandarin oranges, sliced almonds and red onion, if using. Toss to combine. Top with crumbled goat cheese, then drizzle with poppy seed dressing, to taste.

Uses avocado, bacon and onion as well. This salad gives a lot of flavor for an easy effort. When serving this I get all the ingredients ready ahead of time, keeping them separate. Then toss everything together just before serving.

SPINACH MANDARIN POPPY SEED SALAD

Spinach Mandarin Poppy Seed Salad image

Provided by Kirsten

Time 10m

Yield 6 people

Number Of Ingredients 6

16 oz bag spinach (washed)
11 oz can mandarin oranges (drained)
1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese ((more if desired))
1/4 cup bacon bits (I use Oscar Mayer real bacon bits)
1/2 cup candied almond slivers (recipe link above)
1/2 cup poppy seed dressing (I love Brianna's Poppy Seed Dressing)

Steps:

  • Make your candied almond slivers. Make sure they have at least 30 minutes to cool. I usually do mine the night before.
  • Put your washed spinach in large bowl. Sprinkle the cheese, bacon bits, and candied almond slivers over the top. Drain the mandarin oranges and place on top. Drizzle the poppy seed dressing over salad - as much as you would like and toss with salad tongs. Serve with your favorite main dish and enjoy!

EVERYONE'S FAVORITE SPINACH SALAD WITH POPPY SEED DRESSING

Everyone's Favorite Spinach Salad with Poppy Seed Dressing image

This recipe quickly becomes the favorite of pretty much everyone that tries it. It's so tasty, it's easy to make, and the ingredients are interchangeable! You can use the dressing immediately or make it in advance and store in refrigerator up to a couple of days. I have substituted pears and mandarin oranges for the strawberries and feta instead of blue cheese. Be creative! YUM!

SPINACH, STRAWBERRY, MANDARIN SALAD WITH POPPY SEED DRESSING

Spinach, Strawberry, Mandarin Salad With Poppy Seed Dressing image

This is a wonderful and refreshing salad that I got from Best of Bridge. I played around with it a bit and added a few other fresh fruits to it. This is yummy and great to offset a very rich main dish, such as my Death to Dieter's Lasagna.

SPINACH AND MANDARIN ORANGE SALAD WITH POPPYSEED DRESSING

Spinach and Mandarin Orange Salad With Poppyseed Dressing image

This salad is one I've made for years. It is quick, easy, includes just the right dressing and if you add some chunked chicken, you go from a very nice (fancy) side salad to a great main dish!!

Provided by Tinks599

Categories     Salad Dressings

Time 5m

Yield 4 Side salads (or 2 full salads), 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

4 cups baby spinach leaves
1 (11 ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 (6 ounce) can sliced water chestnuts, drained
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup plain yogurt
3 tablespoons poppy seeds
4 tablespoons honey

Steps:

  • Make your dressing first:.
  • Add equal parts yogurt, mayonnaise and mix well.
  • Add the honey and mix inches Adjust this to your tastes. It is generally lightly sweet and rounds out the flavors of the mayo and yogurt.
  • Add the poppy seeds, mix in (if you don't have seeds, don't sweat it, they give a bit of texture but I have wanted this salad and run out and it is fine without it -- )
  • Salad:
  • Either mix the spinach, sliced water chestnuts and mandarin oranges, or make this directly on the plate. I usually break the water chestnuts because about a 1/2 slice and one mandarin orange plus a fork full of spinach leaves seems to be about perfect.
  • Top with the dressing.
  • See! Isn't that easy? Five minutes!
