CRESCENT SAUSAGE SQUARES

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- In a skillet over medium high heat brown sausage. Season with salt & pepper if needed.
- Turn down heat to medium low. Add in cream cheese and stir until melted into the sausage.
- Spray 9 x 13 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Unroll one package of crescent roll dough and place flat on bottom of prepared baking dish going up the sides about 1/4 of an inch. (Pinch closed any perforated edges.)
- Spread sausage and cream cheese mixture crescent dough evenly leaving 1/2 inch border around the bottom.
- Unroll 2nd package of crescent roll dough and place on top of sausage mixture. Pinch closed any perforated edges. Press edges of top dough to bottom dough to seal together.
- Optional for more of a golden brown color on top, whisk one egg and brush all over top crescent dough.
- Bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until cooked through and golden brown. Allow to rest for a couple of minutes. Cut into squares.

- If using crescent rolls: Unroll 1 can of dough into 2 long rectangles. Place in ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish; press over bottom and 1/2 inch up sides to form crust. - Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 8-inch square (2-quart) glass baking dish with cooking spray. In 8-inch skillet, cook sausage over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until no longer pink.
- In baking dish, layer half of the thawed potatoes, half of the Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, the cooked sausage, thawed asparagus, remaining potatoes and cheese.
