This easy summer dessert is made with crushed vanilla wafer cookies, instant vanilla pudding, cream cheese, and Cool Whip - they look just like mini beach sand buckets!

Provided by Kelly Miller

Categories     Dessert

Time 15m

Number Of Ingredients 9

8 oz vanilla wafers
2 3.4 oz pkgs instant vanilla pudding mix
3 cups milk
8 oz cream cheese (room temperature)
1/2 cup powdered sugar

SAND PUDDING RECIPE

Sand Pudding Recipe image

This is a recipe I shared last summer, but it was a big hit so I am sharing it here today and making up a batch for my family! The ingredients were simple as were the instructions to create this dessert that will have people wondering if it is REALLY sand or not. I brought it to our family reunion last Saturday after the Walk and it was quickly gobbled up! My daughter asked if I would make it again the next day. I'm pretty sure she single handedly ate half the pail herself. ;) Seriously though, this was very quick & easy dessert to put together with a LOT of wow factor included. This is a super quick & easy summer time dessert that is sure to be the talk of the party!

SAND BUCKET DESSERT

Sand Bucket Dessert image

This A fun dessert for adults and children. I brought this to a family picnic with a Luau theme. I tried something a little different and it was very good. It had almost a cheese cake flavor. This would be really good with bananas added to it .

  • 4. Start layering in the sand bucket cookie layer first then pudding mixture. Repeat layers ending with the cookies on top.
  • 5. Cover with foil and refrigerate at least 3-4 hours. When ready to serve garnish with gummy fish and serve with the shovel.

SAND DESSERT AKA VANILLA "DIRT DESSERT"

Sand Dessert Aka Vanilla

The first time I made this was for my son's Pirate theme birthday party. I made it in a casserole dish and put plastic pirate toys on top. It's become a family favorite, especially since my son doesn't like chocolate. My husband took this to work for a potluck. It disappeared quickly and he was asked to bring it again.

  • Begin by smashing up Oreos. I put mine in my food processor and blended until they were crumbs. Set aside.
  • Mix cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar with mixer in a medium bowl. Fold in cool whip until well blended. In a separate bowl mix pudding mix and milk with a whisk. Once combined well, add pudding to cream cheese mixture.
  • Place a few tablespoons of oreo crumbs in your cup or small jar. Add some of the creamy mixture (I do this by adding the creamy mixture to a gallon bag and cutting off the corner so it goes in the jar more easily.) Bang down on a wash cloth on the table to get all bubbles out. Add a few more tablespoons of oreo Crumbs. Top off with some more cream mixture and sprinkle on a few more crumbs. Top off with more crumbs and a drink umbrella.
