This was given by Zella Gray from East Tennessee and has been used as "prayful distraction" in times of crisis - drop a spoonful of dough, say a prayer! Don't cut the recipe in half - doesn't turn out right.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Mix shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients.
- Drop by the teaspoon on ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes.
- May be kept in refrigerator for a week or so (if they last that long). Can also be kept frozen before or after baking.
- Makes 15 to 20 dozen cookies depending on the size.

Steps:
- To make sour milk mix 1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice and enough milk to equal 1 cup, stir and let stand 5 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375.
- Mix shortening, sugar, eggs, sour milk, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Slowly add flour.
- Fold in chocolate chips.
- drop by table spoon onto cookie sheet (cookies spread) or try to layer in a baking dish to see if these are the cake like cookies.
- Bake 10 mins or until toothpick comes out clean.
