Learn how to make caffeine-free mint tea with this easy recipe. Use fresh peppermint, spearmint, or other mints, and enjoy it hot or cold.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups water (filtered)
15 mint leaves (fresh, peppermint or spearmint)
Optional: 1 to 2 teaspoons sugar (or honey)
Optional: lemon slices
Optional: fresh lemon juice
Optional: ice

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Bring the water to a boil.
  • Remove from the heat and add the fresh mint leaves. Steep for 3 to 5 minutes, depending on desired strength.
  • Add optional sweetener. Start with 1 teaspoon per cup and add more as desired.
  • If serving iced, fill tall glasses with ice and pour the tea over. If serving hot, pour the tea into mugs. Garnish with optional lemon slices and/or lemon juice to taste.

Tea, mint, sugar, orange and lemon juices make this a quick and easy, refreshingly delicious drink on a hot summer's day, given to me by a true Southern lady. Goes great with Cajun or spicy foods too. Every time I serve this someone asks me for the recipe!

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 cups boiling water
12 sprigs fresh mint
4 tea bags
1 cup white sugar
1 cup orange juice
¼ cup lemon juice
5 cups cold water
3 orange slices for garnish
3 lemon slices for garnish

Steps:

  • Place the tea bags and mint sprigs into a large pitcher. Pour boiling water over them, and allow to steep for about 8 minutes. Remove and discard the tea bags and mint leaves, squeezing out excess liquid. Stir in sugar until dissolved, then stir in the orange juice and lemon juice. Pour in the cold water. Serve over ice cubes, garnished with orange or lemon slices.

2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water
6 cups brewed tea, very strong
3 sprigs of fresh mint
6 oranges, juice of (grate the rind from one of them)

Steps:

  • Boil sugar, water and grated orange rind together for five minutes.
  • Remove from heat and add crushed mint leaves; cool and strain.
  • Combine brewed tea and orange juice.
  • Half fill glasses with crushed ice, add tea and sweeten with mint syrup.

7 cup water
1 can (12 ounces) frozen orange juice concentrate
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
5 teaspoons instant tea
1 teaspoon whole cloves

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine water, orange juice concentrate, sugar, lemon juice and tea. Tie the cloves in a small cheesecloth bag; add to saucepan. Simmer, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes. Remove spice bag. Serve hot. Store leftovers in glass container in refrigerator.
