My family loves any dessert that tastes like apple pie, and this one's so easy, the children can help make it. My four grandchildren love helping MawMaw in the kitchen to make treats like this.

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 can (21 ounces) apple pie filling, chopped
TOPPING:
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup cold butter
1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
1/4 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Unroll crescent dough into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan; seal seams and perforations. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes., Combine the walnuts, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg; sprinkle over crust. Spread with pie filling. , In a small bowl, combine flour and brown sugar; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in coconut and walnuts. Sprinkle over filling. , Bake at 375° for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.

1 small Granny Smith apple, peeled, cored, cut into 8 (1/2-inch) slices
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 (8 ounce) can Pillsbury® refrigerated crescent dinner rolls
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon apple pie spice

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Line cookie sheet with cooking parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In small bowl, toss apple slices in melted butter; set aside. Separate dough into 8 triangles.
  • In small bowl, mix brown sugar and apple pie spice. Divide mixture evenly among triangles. Top each triangle with apple slice. Starting at long side of each triangle, wrap dough around apple. Place on cookie sheet. Brush with remaining butter.
  • Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until crescents are deep golden brown and apples are softened. Cool 5 minutes before serving.

12 Rhodes Dinner Rolls , thawed but still cold
1/2 cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 cup , chopped pecans
308 grams medium apples (2 apples), peeled and grated
ICING:
1 cup powdered sugar
4 to 8 teaspoons milk
1 teaspoon almond extract or vanilla extract
finely chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Combine 3 rolls together and flatten into a 10-inch circle. Repeat 3 more times with other rolls. In a small bowl combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle sugar mixture over each circle and top with nuts and apple.With a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut each circle into 8 wedges. Roll each wedge up from wide edge and place, pointed side down, on a sprayed baking sheet. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let rise 30-45 minutes.Remove wrap and bake at 350°F for 10-15 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven and immediately place on cooling rack. For icing combine sugar, milk and extract until smooth. Drizzle over twists and top with finely chopped pecans.
