Steps:
- For the crust: Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 325 degrees F.
- Toss together the cookie crumbs, butter, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Press into the bottom and sides of a 9-inch deep-dish pie pan. Bake until dry and set, 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack.
- For the filling: Combine the cornstarch and 1 1/4 cups of the sugar in a medium saucepan and very slowly whisk in the wine to prevent lumps from forming. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it has come to a simmer and is very thick, about 8 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the chocolate, butter and salt until smooth. Pour the filling into the cooled crust and refrigerate until chilled and set, about 4 hours and up to overnight.
- Right before serving, whip the cream with the remaining 3 tablespoons sugar in a large bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Top the pie with the whipped cream. Scatter the chocolate curls or sprinkles over the top, if using.
HOT WINE
Steps:
- Place the wine in a saucepan with the sugar and heat the mixture slowly until just below a boil. Meanwhile, squeeze a wedge of lemon into each of six mugs and drop the wedges into the mugs.
- Divide the wine among the mugs and serve immediately.

HOT MULLED WINE
A cozy drink to make for those cold nights. Great to have at a family dinner, like Thanksgiving or Christmas. The incredible smell of this in your house is unbelievably welcoming as well! I have made large batches of mulled wine and kept it in a crockpot for guests to help themselves. Enjoy!

GLUEHWEIN
Gluehwein is a German/Austrian winter-holiday drink that most tourists know as an after-ski drink. After you come in out of the snow, it is supposed to make you glow with warmth again. Watch it: Since you drink this wine warm, the alcohol goes to your head extra quick! Drink when you really have come in, and do not have to go out again! This is the one my father used to make for New Year's Eve.

HOT MULLED WINE
This recipe of my grandmother's is always a hit at a get-together, especially on those cold, blustery days. I usually keep it warm in a slow cooker. You can use claret or Burgundy.

LITTLEMAFIA'S POTATO PAPRIKASH
Need something fast? Here you go...Oh, it can be done without the peppers too. Fry a sausage next to it if looking for something more consistent. Or slice it and add it to it, like my mom used to do.These days she doesn't eat a lot of potato paprikash, though.

LITTLEMAFIA'S RICE & TUNA
I'm almost embarassed to post this, but since it's my one of my DD's favorite dishes I thought I should post it maybe someone else will like it too. And maybe it's gonna help another mom with a picky eater. Change the quantities, I only guessed. I'm glad if my DD eats the tuna, so sometimes is less rice, sometimes more. She can't eat this much at once, maybe twice.
