Creamy Dijon Sauce | Slimming & Weight Watchers Friendly image

A creamy mustard and mushroom sauce perfect with pork, lamb, beef or chicken.

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 small onions (approx 60g each) (peeled and finely chopped)
1 clove garlic (crushed)
200 g button mushrooms (sliced)
1 chicken or vegetable stockpot (made up with 300ml boiling water)
3 tbsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp English mustard powder
3 tbsp low fat cream cheese
1 pinch black pepper
low calorie cooking spray

Steps:

  • Spray a small saucepan with low calorie cooking spray and place over a low heat.
  • Add the onion and fry for 5 - 10 minutes. Stir until golden and slightly softened.
  • Add the garlic, mushrooms, mustards and chicken stock. Simmer over a low heat, uncovered, for 15 - 20 minutes.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the cream cheese until completely blended.
  • Season to taste with black pepper.

3/4 cup Land O Lakes® Fat Free Half & Half
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons sliced green onions
3 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter

Steps:

  • Combine half & half, Dijon mustard, flour and salt in 1-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, 3-5 minutes or until mixture begins to thickened. (Do not boil.)
  • Stir in green onions; remove from heat. Add butter, stirring constantly with whisk, until smooth.
  • Serve sauce immediately over chicken breasts or fish.

1/2 cup half-and-half cream
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves (6 ounces each)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
2 teaspoons olive oil
2 teaspoons butter
1 small onion, halved and very thinly sliced
Minced fresh parsley

Steps:

  • Whisk together cream, mustard and brown sugar. Pound chicken breasts with a meat mallet to even thickness; sprinkle with salt and pepper., In a large skillet, heat oil and butter over medium-high heat; brown chicken on both sides. Reduce heat to medium. Add onion and cream mixture; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until a thermometer inserted in chicken reads 165°, 10-12 minutes. Sprinkle with parsley.

The elegantly sharp flavors of Dijon mustard come together with chicken stock, heavy cream, and Worcestershire to form a velvety pan sauce perfect with seared meats, seafood, and poultry! This sauce is perfect for a quick weeknight meal, family gathering, or holiday event.

2 tablespoons unsalted butter (omit if using pan drippings )
1½ cups chicken stock
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 cup heavy cream
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
sprinkle Fresh thyme (garnish, optional )

Steps:

  • In a medium-sized skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter (omit this step if using pan drippings - see notes). Once the butter is melted and foaming, whisk in chicken stock and heavy cream.
  • Add Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce and whisk through to combine. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until the sauce has thickened slightly.
  • If serving with a main protein, such as pork chops, you can add them back to the pan to cook in the sauce.
  • Garnish with fresh thyme and serve immediately.

1 cup chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon dried chopped dill weed (not seed)

Steps:

  • Place chopped onion in sauce pan with chicken broth, and boil on medium high heat until most broth is absorbed and onions are thoroughly soft. Add heavy cream, reduce heat to medium, and reduce by approximately 1/4, or until mixture is of the consistency you want for sauce. Stir in mustard and chopped dill and serve.
