Hot Dog Mummies with Honey Mustard Dip image

These flaky mummy sandwiches are instant party hits! The accompanying mustard dip adds just the right kick.

Yield 20 appetizers (about 1 cup dip).

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
20 miniature hot dogs
1 large egg
2 teaspoons water
Dijon mustard
DIP:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
Dash hot pepper sauce

Steps:

  • Separate crescent roll dough into 2 rectangles; seal seams and perforations. Cut each rectangle horizontally into 10 strips. Wrap 1 strip around each hot dog., Place 1 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet. In a small bowl, whisk egg and water; brush over tops. Bake at 375° until golden brown, 10-15 minutes. Using mustard, add eyes. In a small bowl, combine the dip ingredients; serve with mummies.

50g emmental , grated
50g cheddar , grated
3 tsp wholegrain mustard
1 tbsp honey
4 sausages
4 brioche hot dog buns

Steps:

  • Combine the emmental, cheddar, mustard and honey. Cook the sausages following pack instructions. Heat the grill to high. Split the hot dog buns, fill each with a sausage and top with the cheese mixture. Put the hot dogs onto a baking sheet and grill for 1-2 mins or until the cheese has melted.

1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons honey
5 cups shredded green cabbage (heaping)
1/3 cup shredded carrot
1 tablespoon chopped green onion
1/4 teaspoon salt (or salt to taste)
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 hot dogs
3 pretzel hot dog buns (or your favorite hot dog buns)
3/4 cup whole honey roasted peanuts
1 teaspoon black sesame seed (for garnish)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl add the mayonnaise, yellow mustard, Dijon mustard, and honey. Whisk together and set aside.
  • In a medium size bowl add the cabbage, carrots, green onion, salt, pepper and the honey mustard mixture.
  • Toss all ingredients together until the cabbage mixture is lightly coated. Set the slaw mixture aside for a moment.
  • Coarsely chop the honey roasted peanuts and set aside.
  • Grill, microwave or boil the hot dogs.
  • Cut the pretzel rolls in half lengthwise leaving the bottom of the bun uncut about an inch from the bottom.
  • Lay some of the slaw in the bottom of the bun. Add the hot dog.
  • Top the hot dog with a bit of mustard, the remaining slaw, chopped peanuts and garnish with the black sesame seeds.
