Steps:
- Add the butter and milk to a small bowl or measuring cup, and heat in the microwave for one minute and thirty seconds, or until the butter is melted.
- Whisk in the vanilla and set aside. In a large bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy. Add the milk mixture and stir to combine.
- Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar, and mix until just combined (small lumps are ok). Let sit five minutes.
- While the batter is resting, preheat your waffle iron. Stir in the chocolate chips, then pour the batter onto the hot waffle iron, and cook according to your waffle maker's directions. (For my belgian waffle maker, 1 cup of batter cooked for 4 minutes was perfect.)

GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE WAFFLES
For almost 50 years, Frank asked me to make chocolate waffles. I really didn't have a recipe for them, and I was hesitant to just add chocolate syrup or cocoa to my Everyday Waffles recipe. I'm so glad I waited even though I had a grumpy hubby from time to time. When I wrote to the Young siblings, asking for any recipes of...

- 2. Stir in milk, oil, and eggs. As with regular waffles, don't over mix. Bake according to waffle baker directions.
- 3. We eat them warm with vanilla ice cream. Delicious! And they remind us of Grandma back in the good old days, when these were a real treat for the Young family in Maine and Washington State.

GRANDMA B'S SUPER WAFFLES
This was my grandma's favorite waffle recipe. It has become a family favorite enjoyed on special occasions not only by her grandchildren but great-great grandchildren as well. The clipping is yellow with age clipped I suspect from the local daily paper many many years ago.
