Washington Cherries, are fresh in our market this week. While they are on sale... I purchased two -2 pound bags. One for eating now and 3 pounds to freeze, for later. Yes... you can freeze Cherries for snackes with the pit in and with the stem attatched. These are best eaten within a couple weeks. - Rince your cherries in cool water. Dry on paper towels. When perfectly dry, arrange on a cookie sheet, that will fit in your freezer. Freeze.When frozrn hard. Remove from freezer, and put into plastic freezer bags...Seal tightly...less air the better. THere you are...when you want a taste....open bag, pour some out. Sit back and enjoy a refreshing treat. CHERRY CRISP USING FRESH/FROZEN CHERRIES
I love this crisp recipe - you can easily use other types of fruit and has adequate amounts of fruit and topping. The topping is usually about a half-inch thick, so add more fruit to a 9x13 pan if you like a larger amount of fruit in compairason to topping

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 375.
- In a 9x9 pan, combine cherries, 11/2 cups sugar, 4 T flour and 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl combine, 1 1/2 cups flour, oats, brown sugar, remaining cinnamon. Cut in softened butter until all is moistened.
- Cover cherries with topping.
- Bake in oven for 45 minutes or until browned and bubbly.
