FLUFFY BUTTER COCOA FROSTING



Fluffy Butter Cocoa Frosting image

A very fluffy, light cocoa frosting. I love to make frosting with butter, you get a dreamy, creamy consistency.

Yield 2 cups approx.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/4 lb butter, very soft
2 1/3 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup baking cocoa (or more for darker, richer flavor)
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 -3 tablespoons milk or 2 -3 tablespoons cream (to desired spreading consistency)

Steps:

  • In a bowl (or 4 cup glass measuring cup is easier) add powdered sugar and cocoa.
  • Cut in soft butter with a knife or fork.
  • Add vanilla.
  • Using mixer beat until fluffy.
  • Add the milk or cream now until spreadable consistency is achieved.
  • Frost COOLED (if warm it will melt the butter) cake, cookies, brownies, whatever!
  • I use this recipe for my Moist Fudgy Cocoa Brownies.
  • Yummy!

  • 1. Mix in large bowl the first four ingredients, add milk and beat to disired spreading consistency; additional milk may be added if required.

1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate or vanilla or white chips
3-3/4 to 4-1/4 cups confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring cream to a simmer, about 180° remove from the heat. Stir in chips until melted. Place pan in a bowl of ice water; stir constantly until cooled. Gradually whisk in confectioners' sugar until smooth and thick. Store in the refrigerator.

4 cups powdered sugar
1 ½ cups unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 pinch salt
4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Steps:

  • Combine powdered sugar and butter in a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add cocoa powder, vanilla, and salt; mix for 30 seconds. Add cream 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Mix on medium speed until frosting is shiny and seems to have large bubbles, 3 to 5 minutes more.

6 tablespoons boiling water
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Place the cocoa in a mixing bowl and pour the boiling water over it. Stir with a wooden spoon until well mixed.
  • Add the butter and beat at low speed until well mixed, about 30 seconds.
  • Add sugar and vanilla and beat in at low speed.
  • Increase speed to medium and beat until light and fluffy.
