8 bacon strips, diced
2 medium onions, quartered and sliced
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 can (16 ounces) baked beans, undrained
1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (16 ounces) butter beans, rinsed and drained
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) cut green beans, drained

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings; set bacon aside. Saute onions in drippings until tender. Stir in brown sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard and garlic powder., Simmer, uncovered, for 15 minutes or until onions are golden brown. Place the beans in a 3-qt. slow cooker. Add onion mixture and bacon; stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until heated through. Serve with a slotted spoon.

This is the best baked bean dish I've ever had. I've been searching for the perfect bean recipe, and this might just be it. Recipe from Home Cookin' With Dave's Mom (David Letterman). I substituted different beans based on what I had on hand, but it's delicious. I must confess, this is even more delicious with a hot dog or better yet eat it like a chili dog. YUMMY!

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 onion, chopped (medium)
4 garlic cloves, chopped
3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke
15 ounces baked beans
15 ounces kidney beans, drained
15 ounces black-eyed peas or 15 ounces garbanzo beans, drained
15 ounces lima beans, drained

Steps:

  • Sauce: In a small skillet over medium heat, heat oil and saute onion and garlic until tender. Add remaining ingredients and stir well.
  • Beans: In a 2-quart casserole, combine beans and sauce and bake at 350 for 45 to 60 minutes.

2 large onions, chopped
8 slices bacon, chopped
1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
1/4 cup white vinegar
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 cans reber butter beans, drained
2 cans lima beans, drained
2 cans dark red kidney beans, drained
1 can baked beans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  • Brown bacon in a large stockpot until crisp.
  • Drain on paper towels reserving 3-4 tablespoons drippings.
  • Saute onions in bacon fat until softened and translucent.
  • Add brown sugar and vinegar.
  • Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic and beans.
  • Bring back to a boil.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and bake for 1 1/4 hours covered.
  • Add bacon bits to top and bake for an additional 5 minutes.

1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can butter beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can lima beans, drained
1 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, drained
½ pound bacon, cut into small pieces
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
¾ cup brown sugar
½ cup ketchup
½ cup vinegar
¼ cup molasses
1 teaspoon dry mustard

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place kidney beans, butter beans, lima beans, and pork and beans in a 2-quart casserole dish.
  • Heat a saucepan over medium heat; cook and stir bacon, onion, and garlic until bacon is browned, about 10 minutes. Pour off excess fat.
  • Whisk brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, molasses, and mustard into bacon mixture; simmer until cooked through, about 20 minutes. Pour sauce over beans in the casserole dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling, 1 hour 15 minutes.

1-1/2 pounds fresh green beans, cut into 2-inch pieces
1-1/2 pounds fresh wax beans, cut into 2-inch pieces
5 medium tomatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 pounds fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 medium sweet onion, chopped
10 tablespoons butter, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons minced garlic, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons dried basil, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons dried oregano, divided
1 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups soft bread crumbs
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Place beans in a large saucepan and cover with water; bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, for 8-10 minutes or until crisp-tender. Drain; add tomatoes and set aside. , In a large skillet, saute mushrooms and onion in 4 tablespoons butter until crisp-tender. Add 1 teaspoon garlic, 1 teaspoon basil, 1 teaspoon oregano and salt; cook 1 minute longer. Add to the bean mixture; toss to coat. Spoon into a greased 3-qt. baking dish., Melt the remaining butter; toss with bread crumbs, cheese and remaining garlic, basil and oregano. A wonderful old-fashioned baked bean flavor. This recipe has served by family for 29 years and originally came from my mother-in-law. It tastes great served with fresh cornbread or biscuits and honey. Although you need to allow time for soaking and simmering the beans, this recipe is still quite easy.

2 cups navy beans
½ pound bacon
1 onion, finely diced
3 tablespoons molasses
2 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon dry mustard
½ cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Soak beans overnight in cold water. Simmer the beans in the same water until tender, approximately 1 to 2 hours. Drain and reserve the liquid.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • Arrange the beans in a 2 quart bean pot or casserole dish by placing a portion of the beans in the bottom of dish, and layering them with bacon and onion.
  • In a saucepan, combine molasses, salt, pepper, dry mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil and pour over beans. Pour in just enough of the reserved bean water to cover the beans. Cover the dish with a lid or aluminum foil.
  • Bake for 3 to 4 hours in the preheated oven, until beans are tender. Remove the lid about halfway through cooking, and add more liquid if necessary to prevent the beans from getting too dry.

1 tablespoons olive oil
1 boxes boca veggie crumbles
1 packages soy bacon
1 units sweet onion
1 cups ketchup
0.5 cups dark brown sugar
1 units vegetable spray

Steps:

  • Rinse and drain beans (except baked beans!) and set aside. Heat olive oil in a large skillet; 'brown' Veggie Crumbles and soy bacon until thawed. Add onion, and cook just until caramelized.
  • Remove from heat and mix in large bowl with all other ingredients until well combined.
  • Pour into greased 9x13 casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.

1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 to 1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1/4 teaspoon each dried basil, dried oregano, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder and pepper
3 bacon strips, cut into 2-inch pieces

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine beans. In another bowl, combine the onion, sugars, salt, lemon juice, hot pepper sauce and seasonings. Stir into beans. , Pour into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Top with bacon pieces. Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 1 hour or until heated through.
