These Easy Grits are so creamy, and no milk is needed! Add your choice of seasonings for the perfect side of grits.

Number Of Ingredients 4

3/4 cup Albers quick grits (or your preference)
3 cups water
2 1/2 tbsp salted butter
1 tsp salt

Steps:

  • Pour the water into a medium saucepan, and turn the heat on high.
  • Add in the butter and salt.
  • Once the water is at a full boil, sprinkle in the grits, and whisk.
  • Reduce the heat to low medium.
  • Let cook for about 30-35 minutes.
  • Stir occasionally to prevent lumps.
  • Serve, and jazz up with more butter, salt or sugar.
  • Enjoy!

4 cups water
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup uncooked quick-cooking grits
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons butter
ground black pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Bring water and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Whisk in grits, reduce heat to medium-low, and cook until thickened, 5 to 6 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in Cheddar cheese, Parmesan cheese, and butter until fully combined and cheeses have melted. Season with pepper and serve immediately.

3 cups water
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup hominy grits
freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon butter
½ cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Bring the water and salt to a boil in a saucepan. Whisk in the grits and continue to whisk for 1 minute. When the mixture comes to a boil again, turn the heat to low. Stir frequently, cook for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Remove the grits from the heat and add pepper, butter and cheese; mix well. Stir until the butter and cheese are melted.

Easy Grits image

Easy Breakfast grits for two. If more servings are needed, double or use the ratio of 1:4. I usually add 1/4 - 1/2 tsp of black pepper at the end for flavor. Some great toppings to the grits are: Bacon, cheese, or brown sugar.

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 cup water
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cornmeal, yellow
3 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Combine the water, milk and salt in a sauce pan and heat over med-high heat until boiling.
  • Gradually add the cornmeal while continually whisking, this will limit lumping.
  • Once all the cornmeal is added, cover and turn the heat to low.
  • Cook for 20-25 minutes, whisking mixture every 4-5 minutes to prevent lumping.
  • 5 minutes before the end of cooking add the butter and let melt. When the timer expires, whisk in the butter to combine and taste for salt and pepper preference.
  • Serve hot with topping(s) if desired.
