EASY BLACKBERRY AND CREAM CHEESE DANISH RECIPE



Easy Blackberry and Cream Cheese Danish Recipe image

A flaky, buttery croissant - braided and stuffed with cream cheese and blackberries.

8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 Tablespoon flour
8 ounce tube Pillsbury Crescent rolls (or crescent roll sheet)
21 ounces blackberry pie filling
1 cup fresh blackberries
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 Tablespoons heavy cream
1/8 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, sugar, vanilla, and flour. Set aside.
  • Open crescent roll dough and unroll, leaving crescents all together in one large rectangle
  • On an ungreased baking sheet, lay the crescent roll rectangle. The dough should be almost the entire length of a half sheet pan. (If you're not using a crescent roll sheet, be sure to press edges together to even out edges and seal any holes.)
  • Cut 1/2 inch diagonal strips up each side of the dough.
  • Carefully spread cream cheese filling down the center of the dough to be about 2-3 inches wide. Top with blackberry pie filling or fresh blackberries (or both). You may not need to use the whole can, just enough to cover it well.
  • Fold 1/2 inch dough pieces up over filling alternating sides to get a braided pattern. You may have excess dough once you reach the end of the danish, so fold them in as best as you can.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes or until filling is set and crescent dough is golden in color. Cool before removing from baking sheet.
  • Once danish has cooled, remove to serving platter.

Can of blackberry pie filling
1 cup confectioner's sugar
2 tablespoons of water

Steps:

  • I don't know about you, but I love a recipe that as only 4 ingredients and takes about 15 minutes to create. Start by preheating your oven according to package instructions. Separate the crescent triangles. Add about a tablespoon of the blackberry pie filling to the center of each triangle and roll up to make a crescent. Bake according to package directions. We baked ours at 375 for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool. Now it's time to make your glaze. You will need one cup of confectioner's sugar mixed with two tablespoons of water. Mix until all the lumps are gone and then drizzle on your crescents. If you are a fan of blackberries you will want to try this crescent roll recipe. A warm roll with a hot cup of coffee is the perfect way to unwind.

Number Of Ingredients 8

3-3/4 to 4-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup 2% milk
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/4 cup honey
3 large egg yolks. room temperature
2 tablespoons butter, melted

Steps:

  • Combine 1-1/2 cups flour, yeast and salt. In a small saucepan, heat milk, cubed butter and honey to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed 2 minutes. Add egg yolks; beat on high 2 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn dough onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes., Punch down dough. Cover and refrigerate overnight., To bake, turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half. Roll each portion into a 14-in. circle; cut each circle into 16 wedges. Lightly brush wedges with melted butter. Roll up from wide ends, pinching pointed ends to seal. Place 2 in. apart on parchment-lined baking sheets, point side down. Cover with lightly greased plastic wrap; let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 45 minutes., Preheat oven to 375°. Bake until golden brown, 9-11 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks; serve warm. Freeze option: Immediately after shaping, freeze rolls on parchment-lined baking sheets until firm. Transfer to a freezer container; return to freezer. Freeze up to 4 weeks. To use, let rise and bake as directed, increasing rise time to 2-1/2 to 3 hours.
