THE BLACK AND BLUE MOJITO
Sweet, juicy berries define this summery version of the classic mojito.

Steps:
- In a tall glass, muddle - that's bar-speak for "crush up" - the berries and mint with the lime juice and simple syrup (use the handle of a wooden spoon).
- Add the rum and some crushed ice; top with a splash of club soda and stir. Garnish with mint and more berries. Feel better!
BLACK AND BLUE MOJITO
There are many mojito variations, and you can make one with almost any fresh fruit, but there's always something special about a drink made with fresh berries.

Steps:
- 1 Muddle the berries, mint leaves, lime juice and simple syrup in a rocks or old-fashioned glass
- 2 Add the rhum agricole, then fill with the crushed ice
- 3 Top with a splash of soda water, then stir gently
- 4 Garnish with the mint sprig and berries
- 5 NOTE: To make simple syrup, combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves
- 6 Bring to a slow rolling boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and cook for 5 minutes
- 7 Transfer to a heatproof container and let cool to room temperature

Blackberries are in season and I just HAD to make an attempt to make a mojito with them. It took a couple of tries but I think this is a hit at my house!

Steps:
- In a shaker, muddle mint leaves, blackberries, lime juice and sugar.
- Add rum, blue curacao and mix well.
- Add ice shake 4-5 times and quickly strain over ice.
- Add club soda and stir well.
- Garnish with blackberries, lime or mint sprig.
- Drink up and enjoy!
