CINNAMON BARS

If you are a cinnamon fan or just looking for a tasty seasonal dessert, then you need to bake up a batch of these Cinnamon Bars. They are flavorful, chewy, and so simple to make!

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups packed brown sugar
2/3 cup butter
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon butter (melted)
Pinch Kosher salt

Steps:

  • Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees F. Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper. Spray with baking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ground cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan, add the butter and brown sugar. Cook and stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Stir in the eggs and vanilla extract.
  • Add this mixture to the flour mixture and stir until combined.
  • Spread the batter in the prepared baking pan. Bake for 24-28 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • For the topping:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the granulated sugar, cinnamon, and pinch of kosher salt.
  • While the bars are still warm, brush them evenly with the melted butter, then sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Allow to cool completely before slicing and serving.
  • Pack and store leftovers in an airtight container.

1 cup sugar
3/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey
1 large egg, room temperature
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 to 2 tablespoons water
Additional toasted chopped walnuts, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, beat sugar, oil, honey and egg until well blended. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture. Stir in 1 cup walnuts., Spread into a greased 15x10x1-in. baking pan. Bake until golden brown (edges will puff up), 10-12 minutes. Cool completely on a wire rack., For glaze, in a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, mayonnaise, vanilla and enough water to reach desired consistency; spread over top. If desired, sprinkle with additional walnuts. Let stand until set. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, separated
2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease bottom and sides of 15x10x1-inch pan with shortening. In large bowl, mix sugar, butter and egg yolk with spoon. Stir in flour and cinnamon. Press in pan.
  • Beat egg white and water until foamy; brush over dough. Sprinkle with nuts.
  • Bake 18 to 23 minutes or until very light brown. For bars, immediately cut into 7 rows by 6 rows. Cool in pan on wire rack, at least 30 minutes.

1-1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg; beat well. Combine the flour, cinnamon and salt; add to creamed mixture and beat until smooth. Stir in pecans. 2 cups Flour (spooned and leveled)
3 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
2 cups Brown Sugar (packed)
2/3 cup Butter
2 large Eggs
2 teaspoons Vanilla
1/4 cup Sugar
1 tablespoon Butter (melted)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350ºF and line a 9x9 baking pan or dish with aluminum foil leaving a 2-inch overhang on all sides. Spray the foil with cooking spray or grease.
  • In a medium bowl mix the flour, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, the baking powder, and baking soda until fully combined, set aside.
  • In a large saucepan, melt the 2/3 cup of butter together with the brown sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove the pan from the heat and let cool slightly.
  • Whisk the eggs and vanilla into the brown sugar and butter mixture until combined.
  • Pour the dry ingredients into the saucepan and whisk the ingredients together until a smooth batter forms (don't over mix the batter).
  • Spread the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 25 to 30 minutes (I typically bake mine until exactly 30 minutes), or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • In a small bowl mix the remaining 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, sugar, and 1 tablespoon of melted butter and sprinkle on top of the bars.
  • Use the sides of the foil to lift the bars out of the baking pan and set on top of a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg, separated
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F. and grease a 15 1/2- by 10 1/2-inch jelly-roll pan.
  • In a bowl with an electric mixer beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy and beat in yolk. Add cinnamon and flour and beat until combined well. Spread dough evenly in pan. In a small bowl lightly beat white and brush dough with enough white to coat completely. Sprinkle pecans over top and gently press them into dough. Bake dough in middle of oven 25 minutes, or until golden brown. While confection is still warm, cut into bars, each about 2 1/2 by 1 1/2 inches, and cool completely in pan on rack.

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 egg
1/3 cup milk
1/3 cup light or dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons butter, melted
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
Pinch salt
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
2 to 3 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray, or line with cooking parchment paper.
  • In large bowl, mix blondie bar ingredients. Batter will be very thick. Spread evenly in pan.
  • In small bowl, mix cinnamon swirl ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls on top of batter in pan. Use knife to swirl some into batter.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until edges are golden brown and center is dry. Cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • In medium bowl, beat cream cheese frosting ingredients with electric mixer on medium speed, using enough milk to make a thick and fluffy frosting. Spread on top of blondies. Cut into 4 rows by 3 rows.
