Apple White Wine Glögi Mulled Wine Recipes
MULLED WHITE WINE
I prefer to make mulled wine with white wine because I think it gives a smoother flavor. This recipe has a little rum added at the end for a bit of a kick!

Steps:
- Combine white wine, apple juice, lemon zest, ginger, sugar, and cinnamon stick in a saucepan over medium-low heat and slowly heat, but do not boil. Keep hot on low heat without simmering for 1 hour to infuse the wine.
- Strain hot mulled wine through a small sieve into heatproof glasses. Add 1 tablespoon rum to each glass.

Steps:
- Combine apple juice with honey and spices in a saucepan.
- Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Add wine and reheat gently, do not boil!
- Pour into glasses and garnish with sultanas and blanched almonds.

GLOGI ( FINNISH MULLED WINE)
I found this in Family Circle and it is a bit like the German Gluehwein, but still stands on it's own. The candid orange peel, raisins and almonds make the difference. We had it during last Xmas and it has risen to the top 10 of alcoholic hot beverages. Try to get the high end, slightly bitter orange peel, not the cheap chopped up stuff from the supermarket.

Steps:
- In a non aluminum mid-size sauce pan, heat water and sugar over medium heat until sugar is dissolved, about 1 minute.
- Tie all spices and the peel into a small piece of cheesecloth for easy removal.
- Add the spices and peel and wine to the sauce pan and simmer, covered, 5 minutes.
- To serve: Stand one spoon in each glass, evenly divide gogli into each glass.
- Add a few raisins and almonds in each, or serve separately.
