Crispy Baked Wonton Cups image

Crispy wonton cups can be used to make a variety of different sweet and savory appetizers, desserts and snacks. Make them ahead of time and fill just before serving.

12 wonton wrappers

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Gently press a wonton wrapper in each muffin cup using a wooden tart tamper.
  • Bake wonton cups for 10-12 minutes until light golden brown.
  • Allow wonton cups to cool and remove from the muffin pan.
  • When ready to serve, fill each baked wonton shell with the toppings.

24 wonton wrappers
vegetable or light olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • Brush oil on both sides of each wonton wrapper or use an oil mister to mist each side of the wonton wrapper.
  • Carefully tuck the wrapper evenly into a well of a standard sized cupcake pan. (You'll need two pans for all 24 wonton cups.)
  • Bake 8 minutes or until cups are crispy and golden brown. Make sure to check that the bottom of each wonton cup is crispy. Allow to cool 5 minutes before removing from pan.
  • Cool and stuff each wonton cup with the fillings of your choice!

24 wonton wrappers
1 Tbsp butter, melted
2 Tbsp sugar
2 c fresh berries
1 - 14 oz low fat sweetened condensed milk
1 - 8 oz container of light cool whip
1 Tbsp lemon zest, grated
1/4 c lemon juice

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350. Using a pastry brush, brush melted butter onto one side of wonton wrapper, sprinkle same side with sugar. Press each wrapper, sugar side up into mini muffin tin. Bake 6-8 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Cool completely on wire racks.
  • 2. Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, lemon zest, lemon juice in a medium bowl. Fold in cool whip. Spoon into cooled wonton cups. Top with 2 or 3 fresh berries or 1 fanned strawberry.
  • 3. *wonton wrappers can be baked up to a week ahead of time and stored at room temperature in a sealed bag or container.
  • 4. *Can dust with powdered sugar if desired. *Can drizzle chocolate or white chocolate or both over tops. *Or a dalop of whipped cream on top is nice! (as shown in photo)

  • Meanwhile, place Apple Pie Filling ingredients in a large saucepan over high heat. Bring to simmer, then turn the heat down to medium. Let simmer, stirring occasionally, until the apple is softened, around 8 minutes. There should be no liquid left, just a syrupy coating on the apple. Adjust sweetness to taste. The amount of sugar required differs depending on the tartness/sweetness of the apples. Remove from heat and let cool until it is warm.
