1/4 pound (1 stick) unsalted butter
4 ounces plus 1/2 cup Hershey's semisweet chocolate chips, divided
1 1/2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 extra-large eggs
2 teaspoons instant coffee powder, such as Nescafe
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup plus 1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour, divided
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 pint vanilla ice cream, such as Haagen-Dazs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Heat the butter, 4 ounces of the chocolate chips and the unsweetened chocolate together in a medium heatproof bowl set over simmering water just until the chocolate melts. Remove the bowl from the heat and allow to cool for 15 minutes. In a large bowl, stir (do not beat) together the eggs, coffee powder, vanilla and sugar. Stir the chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • In a medium bowl, sift together 1/4 cup of the flour, the baking powder and salt and stir it into the chocolate mixture. Toss the remaining 1/2 cup of chocolate chips and one tablespoon of flour together in a medium bowl and stir them into the chocolate mixture. Spoon the mixture into 4 individual cast-iron skillets (see note at left) and place them on a sheet pan. Bake for 22 minutes exactly. Don't overbake! A toothpick inserted in the center will not come out clean. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream.

1 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter (melted )
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons miniature semisweet chocolate chips (melted )
1 tablespoon hot water
2 tablespoons almond brickle chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • To prepare brownies, coat bottom of an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray (do not coat sides of pan)
  • Combine brown sugar and next 3 ingredients (brown sugar through egg) in a large bowl; stir well with whisk.
  • Lightly spoon flour into dry measuring cups, and level with a knife. Combine the flour pecans, baking powder, and salt; add to brown sugar mixture.
  • Spread batter in bottom of prepared pan. Bake at 350 for 22 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out almost clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  • To prepare the topping, combine powdered sugar, minichips, and hot water n a small bowl, stir until smooth. Spread topping over brownies, and sprinkle with brickle chips.
  • Chill 30 minutes or until topping is set.

1 cup margarine or butter
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup all-purpose flour or unbleached flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ounces (8 squares) semi-sweet chocolate (coarsely chopped)
1 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 by 9-inch pan. In medium saucepan over low heat, melt margarine. Add sugar, vanilla and eggs; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Stir in flour, cocoa and salt; mix well. Add chocolate and pecans. Pour into prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until set. Cool. Cut into 36 bars.

Steps:

1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups unblanched almonds
4 ounces semi-sweet chocolate baking squares
1/4 cup finely chopped almonds

Steps:

  • Melt butter in skillet over medium heat.
  • Stir in sugar until mixture is smooth, and keep stirring and cooking for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the unblanched almonds to the sugar/butter mixture, and continue stirring and cooking for 10 more minutes.
  • Pour candy mixture into an ungreased 13 x 9 inch pan.
  • Melt chocolate in top of double broiler (Or you can melt using a microwave).
  • Spread the melted chocolate evenly over toffee.
