TEXAS TRASH
This is a wonderful snack mix I make each holiday season. Athough this recipe makes up a good-sized batch, it never seems to last long! Any time we are invited to a Christmas gathering, I always bring along at least a 2 gallon baggie filled up with this mix. The quantities I list here are approximate. You may add more of one...

Steps:
- 1. Preheat oven to 250 degees. You will need a VERY LARGE bowl or tub to mix this in. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine butter or margarine, seasoned salt, garlic powder & Worcestershire Sauce. Heat to melt butter and blend together the flavors. (At this point, you may add cayenne pepper if desired, but BE CAREFUL!! A little bit goes a long way... Maybe no more than 1 1/2 tsp) I don't recommend cayenne if kids are eating this. They will get it on their fingers and then in their eyes. Safety first!!!
- 2. In a VERY large bowl or tub, combine all of the dry ingredients together and blend well using your hands. It works better this way. Now dribble gently the butter mixture onto the dry mixture and using a slotted spoon, keep stirring it until evenly coated. Use all of the butter mixture.
- 3. Using 2 very large cookie sheets (may need 3), spray them with nonstick spray. Spread the mixture evenly on the cookie sheets and bake on low heat (250 degrees) for 25 minutes, stirring twice during baking. Remove from oven, cool in the pans about 10 minutes, then store the mixture in Gallon sized (or larger if you can get them) freezer bags. I promise you...it won't last very long. It's that good!
SLOW COOKER TEXAS TRASH PARTY MIX
Ever since I can remember my mother made Texas Trash/Party Mix. I know she found the original recipe on the box of Chex Cereal as I have used it also. It was a snack we all enjoyed year round but especially during the holidays. She always made it as directed and I would pick out the chex cereals as my favorite. I don't know...

Steps:
- 1. In a small pan melt butter and mix in Worcestershire Sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt. Stir to make sure all ingredients are dissolved.
- 2. Place remaining ingredients in a slow cooker and mix well. Slowly stir in butter mixture, coating all ingredients well.
- 3. Cook on low, stirring every 30 minutes for 3 hours.
- 4. *Note: You can add whatever ingredients you prefer. I do not like pretzels but that is one that many people add. You can put in different types of nuts or crackers, let your imagination run wild. If you like spicy food, hot sauce or cayenne pepper could also be added. Just make it to your liking.

A classic party mix for our family holidays. Makes a great Christmas favor if placed in a decorative tin.

- 1. Mix cereal, pretzels and nuts into a very large roasting pan. I sometimes add a large box of Cheddar fish to the mix.
- 2. Mix butter and bacon drippings in microwave safe bowl and nuke for 10 seconds until just barely melted (not hot)
- 3. Remove from microwave and add seasonings and whisk together until well blended. Spoon over cereal mixture, then carefully mix until all the cereal mixture is coated with the butter mixture. Note: I use my hands for this task.
- 4. Cook in open pan for 1 hour in 250 degree oven, stirring every 15 minutes
TEXAS TRASH
Family holiday tradition! We play around with some ingredients, so feel free to do some substitutes of your own! This recipe is SPICY- which is how our family prefers it! If you prefer a tamer mix, cut the Tobasco in half; and if you really wanna feel the burn, add another tablespoon of the Tobasco, or, add some crush red pepper...

Steps:
- 1. Pre-heat oven to 250° F Mix all Chex cereals, pretzels, and peanuts together in a large bake-safe container. While we prefer peanuts, we sometimes substitute peanuts with pecans (the state nuts and tree!), pistachios, or cashews. Depends on everyone palate.
- 2. Next, melt butter then stir in Worchestershire sauce, Tobasco sauce, season salt and garlic salt. Bring to slight boil. In our house, we use Original and Habanero Tobasco flavors with Lea and Perrins; but again, use what you prefer!
- 3. Combine the mix and the melt and fold to coat well. Pop in the oven for 45 minutes. Its important to not bake it any higher, otherwise you will burn off the coating! Every 15 minutes, fold and stir the mix gently to avoid it sticking and baking to your bake-ware.
- 4. Once finish in the oven, turn on to paper towels to cool, and store in air tight containers.
TEXAS TRASH
Not your ordinary snack mix! A BIG, BOLD FLAVOR just like the State of Texas! This can be doubled, tripled or quadrupled successfully. You can also add other ingredients, just keep the proportion of spicy butter to the dry ingredients the same as in the recipe. I usually add goldfish crackers to mine.

SMOKY AND SPICY PARTY MIX

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C).
- Gently mix corn, rice, and wheat squares, oat rings, mixed nuts, mini pretzels, goldfish crackers, and sesame snacks in two 13x24-inch aluminum roasting pans, taking care not to break cereal.
- Stir bacon drippings, unsalted butter, Worcestershire sauce, MSG, liquid smoke, cayenne pepper, seasoned salt, chili powder, garlic powder, and hot pepper sauce together in a microwave-safe bowl. Cook on high in microwave for 3 or 4 30-second intervals, stirring each time, until mixture is warm, liquid, and fully combined.
- Stir seasoning sauce continuously as you pour half over the cereal mixture in each pan. Gently stir the snack mix and seasonings with a slotted spoon until thoroughly coated; do not crush cereal.
- Bake in the preheated oven until sauce is completely absorbed and the snack mix is crisp, about 2 hours; stir gently every 15 minutes. Cool completely and store in airtight containers. The snack mix stores well in freezer in airtight freezer bags, if it makes it that long.
