"TASTEE" SANDWICH
If you have grown up, lived, or traveled to the Midwest, this recipe is from a popular restaurant that was in Lincoln, NE. I've been told it's an acquired taste, but having grown up on them, I love them! It's a loose meat sandwich. Use a slotted spoon to portion out the meat. Serve on buns with mustard and sliced dill pickles.

LOOSE MEAT SANDWICHES
These taste like a good old fashioned hamburger. They are so good! We usually double the recipe and use the meat in Stuffed baked potatoes on the second night.

ONION LOOSE-MEAT SANDWICHES
With French onion soup, these sandwiches don't have the typical flavor of most sloppy joes. My sisters and I rely on this recipe from Mom on days when there's little time to cook. - Kathy Petorsky, Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania

TASTY LOOSE MEAT SANDWICHES
I discovered the concept of the loose meat sandwich from watching an episode of the Roseanne show about 18 years ago. Loose meat sandwiches are a tasty change once in a while. The seasoned ground beef is easy to make and several seasonings are added to give the meat a unique but mild taste. Loose meat tastes best when served on a fresh kaiser or poppy seed roll. This is one of my favorite recipes due to the fact it is so inexpensive, easy to prepare and it tastes great.

Steps:
- In large skillet add 2 tablespoons butter, when butter begins to melt add diced onion and green pepper. Simmer onion and peppers in skillet for about 6 minutes. Make sure you dice the green pepper and Spanish onion prior to adding to the ground beef.
- Next, add merlot wine, allow wine to simmer for about a minute. Before adding ground beef take a potato masher and work through the meat in order to break the meat into tiny pieces. Add ground beef and simmer for about 8 minutes before turning meat over to brown both sides.
- After both sides are brown, add gravy packet along with 1/2 cup of cold water, stir gravy, onion and peppers throughly through the ground beef.
- Next, you need to add salt, garlic powder, sea salt and cracked pepper, make sure all ingredients are mixed evenly through ground beef. Once the remainder of ingredients are added, simmer over medium heat for an additional 8-12 minutes.
- Serve hot on a fresh kaiser or poppy seed roll. Homemade kaiser rolls from the bakery are the best. Loose meat sandwiches can be served with fries, potato chips or simply by itself.

Steps:
- Take an 8 ounce cup or jar and add the ketchup, mustard, horseradish, Worchestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. This should fill the cup. If not, add more ketchup. Stir thoroughly untill all ingredients are completely mixed. You now have the basic spices.
- Place the beef in a flat bottom aluminum kettle. Put the seasoning you just made into the kettle on top of the beef.
- Fill the same cup or jar with warm water, rinsing it around to get all the fine seasoning out and pour it into the kettle.
- Next, fill the jar with finely ground yellow onions and empty into the kettle.
- Add the heaping teaspoon of Accent.
- Take a wooden spoon to stir and mix all the ingredients in the kettle thoroughly.
- Put the kettle on your stove over a low flame and stir constantly with the wooden spoon for about 15 minutes or until the meat is broken apart finely. Increase the heat to medium and let the mixture come to a boil. Let boil for 25 minutes. Stir with the wooden spoon every few minutes to assure that it doesn't stick to the bottom of the kettle and to avoid lumps.
- Usee a regular metal straining spoon to portion out the meat. Serve on buns.

We used to eat at Tastee Inn & Out in Lincoln, NE or B & G's in Omaha, NE. My mother got this recipe from the newspaper years ago. One of our favorites to make for game day or any day! Enjoy! These are also the same sandwiches that Roseanne used to make on her show! YUM!
