3 Ingredient Sweet Potato Pizza Crust image

3 ingredient sweet potato pizza crust - all you need is sweet potatoes, rolled oats, and an egg! SUPER easy hand-holdable healthy pizza crust!

Provided by Pinch of Yum

Categories     Dinner

Time 1h

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 medium sweet potato, peeled
2/3 cup rolled oats
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
a pinch of garlic powder
1 tablespoon olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pulse the sweet potato and oats through the food processor until very fine. Add the egg and garlic powder and salt; pulse again to mix. The mixture should resemble a loose dough or thick batter.
  • Transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet or round pizza pan. Press into crusts and shape with your hands - you can either make two smaller crusts (you'll get more crispy edge surface area) or one larger crust. Crusts should be about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, until the top is dry to the touch. Remove from oven, let cool, and invert back onto the pan with the dry side facing down. Peel the parchment very gently off the top layer and brush with olive oil. Bake for another 5-10 minutes to get a nice crispy top.
  • Top with your favorite pizza toppings and pop back into the oven to melt the cheese! Voila.

SWEET POTATO PIZZA CRUST

Sweet Potato Pizza Crust image

Finally, Sweet Potato Pizza crust that's fluffy, healthy, and delicious! Vegan, Gluten-Free, and made with only 5 ingredients.

Provided by Caitlin Shoemaker

Categories     Main

Time 45m

Number Of Ingredients 7

150g Sweet Potato, peeled and diced (about 1 heaping cup)
1 tbsp Ground Flax + 2 ½ tbsp Filtered Water
¾ cup Brown Rice Flour
2 tbsp Tapioca Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Pink Salt
Optional: Seasonings of Choice

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 F. Peel, dice (to about ½" pieces), and measure out your Sweet Potato. I recommend using a food scale for best results. Fill a steamer basket with a small layer of water, then steam the Sweet Potatoes until fork tender, about 10-15 minutes.
  • While the Sweet Potatoes are steaming, prepare the Flax "Egg" in a small bowl and set aside. Combine the remaining dry ingredients in a medium bowl and whisk well.
  • Transfer the Sweet Potatoes to a large bowl, then mash well. Add the Flax Egg and mix until evenly combined, then add in half of the dry ingredients and mix with a fork. Add the remainder of the dry ingredients - at some point you will need to switch to using your hands to knead the dough into a ball.
  • Next, place the dough ball between two sheets of parchment paper. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough into a circle about ⅓-½" thick, then peel back the top layer of parchment paper. Transfer the dough + bottom layer of parchment paper to a baking sheet, then bake for 10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven, and cover the crust with the second piece of parchment paper. Flip the crust over so that layer is now on the bottom, then peel back the base layer of parchment paper, which should now be on top.
  • Top the Sweet Potato Pizza Crust as desired, then return to the oven for an additional 10-12 minutes. You can broil the pizza at the end for an additional 1-2 minutes if you'd like your toppings to be extra crispy! Leftovers will keep in the fridge for up to one week.

SWEET POTATO CRUST QUICHE

Sweet Potato Crust Quiche image

This sweet potato crust quiche uses a base of thinly sliced roasted sweet potatoes for the crust, and its filling is loaded with sautéed veggies and cheese! It's a delicious, healthy, and protein-filled dish to make for a special breakfast or holiday brunch!

Categories     Breakfast

Number Of Ingredients 11

20 oz. sweet potato ((roughly 1 very large or 2 medium))
2 tsp. cooking oil ((I use avocado or grapeseed oil to withstand high heat))
1/2 tsp. each black pepper, salt, and garlic powder
1 tsp. cooking oil
1 small onion, (chopped)
1/2 cup chopped bell pepper ((I used frozen!))
3 oz. fresh spinach
6 eggs
1/4 tsp. each black pepper and salt
2 Tbsp. milk or cream
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, (divided)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Wash sweet potatoes, peel, and then dry with a clean towel if they're still wet. Carefully slice into thin rounds with a sharp knife or use a mandolin, if you have one.
  • Spray a 9-inch pie dish with cooking spray and layer sweet potato rounds in the bottom, overlapping heavily. Cut the remaining sweet potato rounds in half and use to line the sides of the pie dish. Drizzle 2 tsp. cooking oil over the top of potatoes and sprinkle with black pepper, salt, and garlic powder. Bake for 20 minutes until sweet potatoes are soft and beginning to crisp.
  • While sweet potatoes are in the oven, sauté onion and bell pepper in 1 tsp. cooking oil. (If using frozen bell peppers, add near the end of the cooking time.) Once onion is soft, add spinach and stir until it wilts. Let cooked veggies cool.
  • Whisk 6 eggs in a medium bowl and add milk or cream with salt and pepper. Stir in 1/4 cup cheese and cooked veggies.
  • Once sweet potatoes have softened and are beginning to crisp, remove from oven and pour egg mixture over top. Sprinkle 1/4 cup cheese on top and return to oven for 28-30 minutes, until eggs are set. Let cool for two or three minutes and then serve.

SWEET POTATO CRUST PIZZA

Sweet Potato Crust Pizza image

Provided by Food Network

Categories     main-dish

Time 1h

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

1 tablespoon plus 2 teaspoons olive oil
1 medium sweet potato (about 10 ounces), peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
1/2 cup almond flour
1/4 cup grated Parmesan
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 large egg
Kosher salt
1/2 bunch broccoli rabe, roughly chopped
4 ounces spicy Italian sausage
1/4 cup pizza sauce
4 ounces goat cheese, crumbled
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Steps:

  • For the crust: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and brush with 2 teaspoons of the olive oil.
  • Add the sweet potato cubes to a food processor fitted with the blade attachment. Pulse until coarsely ground, similar to the texture of coarse salt.
  • Add the ground sweet potato, almond flour, Parmesan, salt, garlic powder and egg to a bowl and stir until combined. Transfer the sweet potato mixture to the prepared baking sheet and form into a 12-inch circle about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with remaining tablespoon olive oil. Bake until browned around the edges, 25 to 30 minutes.
  • For the toppings: Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Prepare an ice water bath. Blanch the broccoli rabe in the boiling water, then transfer to the ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain and set aside.
  • Set a medium skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon into crumbles, until browned, about 8 minutes. Transfer the sausage to a plate with a slotted spoon.
  • Remove the crust from the oven and top with the pizza sauce, broccoli rabe, sausage, goat cheese and pepper flakes. Place back in the oven and cook until the toppings are warmed through and cheese is melted, another 8 to 10 minutes.

SWEET POTATO CHEESECAKE WITH GINGERSNAP CRUST

Sweet Potato Cheesecake with Gingersnap Crust image

Provided by Kardea Brown

Categories     dessert

Time 3h25m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 21

Nonstick cooking spray
1 1/2 cups crushed gingersnap cookies (about 7 ounces or 32 cookies)
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Pinch of kosher salt
One 8-ounce package cream cheese, cool but slightly softened
1/2 cup sour cream, at room temperature
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
2 cups cooked dark orange sweet potatoes, mashed until very smooth or pureed in a food processor (about 12 ounces or 2 large sweet potatoes)
1/4 cup half-and-half
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 large eggs, at room temperature

Steps:

  • For the crust: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9-inch deep dish pie plate with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Mix the cookie crumbs, brown sugar, butter and salt together in a medium bowl until well blended. Press the mixture into the pie plate. Bake until set and the crust feels firm, 7 to 10 minutes. Set aside to cool slightly.
  • To make the cheesecake filling: In a stand mixer or with an electric hand mixer, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, granulated sugar and salt, mixing at low speed until the mixture is smooth with no lumps, 3 to 4 minutes. Beat in the vanilla and eggs.
  • Add the filling to the crust, smooth the top, and chill in the freezer until the filling is sturdy and set up, at least 30 minutes and up to 1 hour.
  • For the sweet potato topping: In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and salt. Whisk in the sweet potatoes, half and half, butter, vanilla and eggs until smooth. Pour slowly over the chilled cheesecake filling.
  • Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes. Reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees F and bake, covering the edges with foil if it browns too quickly, until set along the outside and the center still has a slight jiggle, 55 to 60 minutes. Let cool to room temperature before refrigerating until ready to serve.

SWEET POTATO PASTRY CRUST (VEGAN / GLUTEN FREE)

Sweet Potato Pastry Crust (Vegan / Gluten Free) image

This is a recipe I've modified from www.piginthekitchen.co.uk. If you do not need it to be gluten free then you can also make this recipe using regular pastry flour and no xanthan gum which I've also done and it turned out great. I've used it as a crust for apple pie and shoo fly pie. NOTE: this crust is slightly chewier than a regular pastry crust made with butter, if you want it to crisp up perhaps try brushing the edges with a non dairy spread.

Time 3h40m

Yield 1 pie, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 large sweet potato
1 cup rice flour (plus a few Tbsp more for kneading or rolling)
1 teaspoon xanthan gum
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Cook the sweet potato by steaming or boiling, then mash it until smooth (discard skin). Put it in a bowl and refrigerate at least 2 hours before starting the pie.
  • Put the rice flour, xanthan gum and baking powder into a large mixing bowl and stir them all together.
  • Take the sweet potato out of the fridge and add the dry ingredients into the mash.
  • Sprinkle the counter with a few tablespoons of rice flour and knead the dough until it's no longer sticky.
  • Press the dough into a ball and then cover and refrigerate for another 30 minutes (I skip this step if I need to make the pie immediately).
  • Take the dough out of the fridge and roll it out on a floured surface, then press it into your greased pie pan. (I sometimes need a spatula to help pick it all up at once, it's more fragile than regular pastry dough and may need a little help being transferred from the counter to the pan).
  • Bake the shell right away or fill it first with the fruit or pie ingredients of your choice. Baking time depends on the kind of pie but it's usually around 40 minutes.

PIE CRUST FOR SWEET POTATO PIE

Pie Crust for Sweet Potato Pie image

Use this pie crust to make desserts like our Sweet Potato Pie with Pecan Topping.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Dessert & Treats Recipes     Pie & Tarts Recipes

Time 3h30m

Yield Makes 1 crust

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
2 tablespoons ice water

Steps:

  • In a food processor, pulse several times to combine 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled, and 1/2 teaspoon each salt and sugar.
  • Add 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces. Pulse until mixture resembles coarse meal, with a few pea-size pieces remaining.
  • Add 2 tablespoons ice water; pulse until dough is crumbly but holds together when squeezed (if needed, add up to 2 more tablespoons ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time). Do not overmix.
  • Turn out onto work surface; knead once or twice, until dough comes together. Flatten dough into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  • Place dough on a floured piece of parchment or waxed paper. Using knuckles, press edges of dough to help prevent cracking when you roll it out.
  • Roll dough to a 14-inch round. Using parchment, lift and wrap dough around rolling pin; carefully unroll over a 9-inch pie plate. Gently fit into bottom and along sides of plate, being careful not to stretch or tear dough.
  • Using kitchen shears or a paring knife, trim dough to a 1-inch overhang; fold under, and seal to form a rim. Crimp rim with fingertips. Prick bottom of pie dough all over with a fork, to prevent it from puffing up or shrinking in the oven. Refrigerate until chilled, about 1 hour.
  • If prebaking the crust, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake until crust is firm and golden, about 20 minutes. Cool completely before filling.
