This low-carb and keto-friendly Sausage, Peppers, and Onions is one-pan dish that is should be your new weekly dinner staple. It's made in just twenty-minutes and and so dang delicious!

1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
3 bell peppers, sliced
1 large onion, sliced
1/2 poblano pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
4 (cooked) chicken sausage links (I used a mix of spicy Italian and andouille), sliced (see note)
1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup chicken broth
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin, more to taste
1/2 teaspoon chili power, more to taste
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)

Steps:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add garlic and cook for 30 seconds or just until fragrant.
  • Add sliced bell peppers, onion and poblano pepper to the skillet; let cook until the onion is translucent.
  • Add sausage to the large skillet with the peppers and onions and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and spices. Mix well.
  • Bring to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust spices as desired.
  • Serve over spaghetti squash, cauliflower rice, or gluten-free pasta!

My family has been using this very simple and delicious recipe for sausage, peppers, and onions for years and years now. For an extra kick, try using half sweet sausage and half hot sausage!

6 (4 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage
2 tablespoons butter
1 yellow onion, sliced
½ red onion, sliced
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 large red bell pepper, sliced
1 green bell pepper, sliced
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
¼ cup white wine

Steps:

  • Place the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, and brown on all sides. Remove from skillet, and slice.
  • Melt butter in the skillet. Stir in the yellow onion, red onion, and garlic, and cook 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in red bell pepper and green bell pepper. Season with basil, and oregano. Stir in white wine. Continue to cook and stir until peppers and onions are tender.
  • Return sausage slices to skillet with the vegetables. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 15 minutes, or until sausage is heated through.

A simple and delicious way to serve sausage and peppers with a tomato-based sauce. This is one of my husband's and kids' favorite meals. They like it served over rice because it makes a lot of 'gravy' that soaks into the rice. It 's one of my favorites because it's quick, easy, and has only a few ingredients that I usually have on hand.

7 sweet Italian sausages, or more to taste, removed from the casings and cut into bite-size pieces
1 tablespoon olive oil, or more to taste
1 large sweet onion, halved and sliced
2 (14.5 ounce) cans tomato sauce
3 green bell peppers, sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Spread sausage pieces into a baking dish.
  • Bake sausage in preheated oven until heated through, about 20 minutes.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Saute onion in oil until translucent, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Stir sausage with the onion. Pour tomato sauce over the sausage mixture; bring to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes.
  • Stir bell pepper into the mixture to coat in tomato sauce; cook until the bell pepper is tender, about 20 minutes more.

I had to share this super simple sausage and peppers recipe, inspired and created by my bestie. She whips this up all the time, and it's delicious. Packed with protein and fairly healthy, you too will love making this dish a quick dinner for yourself, or for the family.

4 sausage links, sliced on the diagonal (flavor choice is up to you. i love aidells spinach and feta or chicken and apple)
1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
1 medium orange or yellow bell pepper, sliced
1 medium onion, sliced
2 Tbsp coconut oil (or bacon grease)
2 c kale, shredded (optional)

Steps:

  • 1. In a large frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Saute the peppers and onions for about 8 minutes.
  • 2. If adding kale, add now, and saute for a few more minutes with the peppers until slightly wilted.
  • 3. Add the sausage and heat through for about another 3-5 minutes, tossing consistently.
  • 4. Remove from heat, and serve! It's that easy.

  • Bake cut up sausages for about 20 minute While sausage is cooking put onion and oil in large skillet saute onion till translucent.When sausage is done add to skillet with the onions and add the tomato sauce. Cook for 20 minutes then add the peppers and cook 20 minutes more.Serve over rice.
