We're huge Notre Dame fans, and we tailgate. A lot! This is one of those recipe that is a sure fit hit with the kids and the adults. Sometimes we get crazy and add other "pizza" type ingredients like olives, or peppers, but mainly we stay with the original pizza pull apart bread-it seems to be a good luck charm for our team! -Dana Elliot, Taste of Home Culinary Specialist

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 cans (11 ounces) refrigerated breadstick dough or 2 cans (13.8 ounces) refrigerated pizza dough
3 ounces sliced pepperoni or turkey pepperoni
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons parsley flakes
1/3 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
Marinara sauce, optional

Steps:

  • Cut breadsticks into quarters or pizza dough into small pieces. Remove pepperoni from package and cut into smaller pieces; save remainder for another use. Mix all ingredients in a bowl and toss so oil is spread evenly., Spread mixture in greased 13x9-in. baking dish or fluted tube pan. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes or until top is brown. Be sure center is thoroughly cooked; if not, continue baking and check every 5 minutes until done. Flip pizza onto serving plate and serve with marinara sauce for dipping if desired.

2 lb pizza dough
16 mozzarella string cheeses, each cut into 3 equal pieces
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
marinara sauce, for dipping

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400˚F (200˚C).
  • On a cutting board, divide the dough into 10 equal balls.
  • Begin rolling a ball of dough into a 6-inch (15-cm) tube and flatten until the strip of dough is about ⅛-inch (⅓-cm)thick. Place 5 pieces of string cheese on the strip of dough, spacing about ½ an inch ( 1 ¼-cm) apart. Pull up the dough to wrap around the pieces of mozzarella and seal together. Roll the cheese-stuffed tube of dough to close any remaining holes in the dough. Repeat with the dough and cheese.
  • On a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, arrange 5 of the tubes of dough horizontally. Weave in the remaining tubes of dough vertically between the horizontal tubes.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, and Parmesan. Brush the mixture all over the dough.
  • Bake for 30 minutes, until golden brown.
  • Sprinkle with parsley and serve immediately, with marinara sauce for dipping.

22 Rhodes White Dinner Rolls , thawed but still cold
44 small slices pepperoni
8 ounces brick mozzarella cheese, cut into 22 pieces
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
pizza sauce

Steps:

  • Spray counter lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Flatten each roll into a 3-inch circle. Place 2 pepperoni slices and 1 piece of mozzarella cheese on each circle. Pull edges of each dough circle up to completely enclose filling. In a small bowl combine butter, basil, oregano and parsley. Place Parmesan cheese in a separate bowl. Dip each filled roll in butter mixture and then in Parmesan cheese. Place 11 filled rolls in the bottom of a large sprayed bundt pan pinched side up. Top with remaining 11 rolls. Sprinkle any remaining parmesan cheese over rolls. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise until double. Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 30-35 minutes. Cover with foil last 10 minutes of baking if necessary to prevent over browning. Remove from oven and invert onto serving platter. Serve warm with heated pizza sauce.
