Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 15

1 egg
1/3 cup buttery round cracker crumbs
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk, divided
1 tablespoon onion soup mix
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram leaves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 pound ground beef
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
2 (4-ounce) can chopped mushrooms, undrained
1 (14-ounce) can ready-to-serve beef broth
1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the egg, cracker crumbs, 2 tablespoons milk, onion soup mix, marjoram, salt, and pepper and mix well. Add the ground beef and mix gently with your hands to combine.
  • Form the beef mixture into 4 round or oval patties.
  • Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic; cook and stir until tender and slightly browned-about 6 to 7 minutes.
  • Remove the onion and garlic from the skillet.
  • Add the ground beef 'steaks' to the skillet and cook on the first side until they can be moved-about 4 to 5 minutes. Carefully flip and brown the meat for 2 to 3 minutes on the second side.
  • Remove the patties from the skillet.
  • Return the onions and garlic to the pan along with the undrained mushrooms, broth, soup, remaining 1 cup of milk, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine and bring to a simmer.
  • Then carefully return the 'steaks' to the skillet. Simmer, uncovered, for 8 to 10 minutes until meat is thoroughly cooked to 160 F.
  • Serve over hot cooked rice, mashed potatoes, or cooked noodles. Enjoy!

STOVE TOP SALIBURY STEAK FROM PATTIES

Stove Top Salibury Steak from Patties image

We like to buy those already formed hamburger patties from our butcher (only on sale though!). I have searched and searched for a recipe that used them rather than regular ground beef and ended up having to create my own. Serve with creamed potatoes and steamed green veggie (we do green beans or broccoli!) YUM!

1/2-1 cup fresh mushrooms (optional)

Steps:

  • Liberally coat patties with Meat Tenderizer and pepper. Poke holes in patties about 1/4 " apart. Sprinkle with minced onions.

BEST SALISBURY STEAK

Best Salisbury Steak image

A good recipe for Salisbury steak recipe is hard to find! I remember enjoying it often when I was growing up, but when I decided to add it to my recipe collection, I wasn't able to find it in my modern cookbooks. I came up with these ingredients on my own and experimented until it tasted like I remembered. -Faye Hintz, Springfield, Missouri
