This is a great snack for kids to make. I got this recipe from a gift cookbook I got for Christmas. This is a good recipe to use for gifting too!

Number Of Ingredients 7

Ingredients

3 cup(s) popped popcorn
3 tablespoon(s) butter or margarine, melted
1 teaspoon(s) chili powder
1 package(s) spaghetti sauce mix (i use lawry's)
1 teaspoon(s) granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon(s) garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon(s) cayenne pepper

Steps:

In a small glass jar, combine all ingredients , except the popped corn and the butter. Place the dry mixture in tight fitting jar.
Melt margarine or butter in a small microwave measuring cup. Add 1 Tablespoon of the dry mixture from the jar into the margarine and stir until mixed well. Drizzle the mixture over the popped popcorn. Oh so good!

Ingredients

6 tablespoons unpopped popcorn
¼ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 ½ tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 ½ teaspoons garlic salt
1 cup freshly grated Parmigiano cheese

Steps:

Combine popcorn and 1/4 cup olive oil in a 2-quart saucepan; cover. Cook over high heat, continuously shaking the pan, until the popcorn is popped and the lid begins to lift from the popcorn, about 5 minutes. Pour popcorn into a large bowl.
Mix 2 tablespoons olive oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic salt into popcorn; toss to coat. Add Parmesan cheese and mix well.

Heat the vegetable oil in a very large pan over medium-high heat. Add the popcorn, then cover with a tight fitting lid (alternatively, cover tightly with foil). Wait for the popcorn to start popping, then shake the pan gently every now and again to keep the kernels moving. When the popping slows to 2-3 seconds apart, remove the pan from the heat.
Melt the butter in the microwave (be sure the bowl is big enough so that it won't bubble over). Add the garlic and microwave for 1 minute more. Pour the garlic butter through a fine meshed strainer into a small bowl; discard the garlic.
In a mini food processor or spice grinder, grind the Parmigiano-Reggiano, red pepper flakes, oregano and salt until the mixture resembles coarse sand.
Transfer the popcorn to a serving bowl. Pour the garlic butter over the popcorn and toss to coat. Sprinkle with the cheese mixture and toss again until the popcorn is evenly coated.

Make popcorn on the stove: Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add a few pieces of popcorn - if the corn slowly spins in the oil then the oil is hot enough.
Add remaining popcorn and cover with a lid. Once the popcorn starts popping, shake the pot gently every now and then.
Remove from heat when the popping stops (when you can count to 3 between pops) and transfer to a large bowl.
