Inlet hose. This hose will deliver gasoline from the fuel lines into the float chamber. Through this channel, the gasoline from inside the tank goes into the carburetor area.
Needle valve. Needle valve located inside the float chamber, it can also be referred to as a gasoline valve, since the function is open and close the inlet hose.
Buoy. A buoy is a plastic-made component that floats on a liquid. The buoy function is to control the position of the float needle according to the volume of gasoline in the float chamber.
Float chamber. This space, serves as a transit space, Because here where gasoline is accommodated to be channeled into. This reservoir holds gasoline from the fuel line at a pressure equal to atmospheric pressure.
Air Vent. This ventilation channel will connect the float chamber with the outside, its purpose to keep the pressure inside the float space remain stable according to the outside air pressure.
Main Jet. The main jet or also called main nozzle is the main channel that connects the float chamber with venturi, gasoline will come out through the main jet with the ideal volume.
Slow Jet. Slow jet is also a gasoline output that connecting the float chamber into the intake manifold. But unlike the main jet, slow jet will flow gasoline to idle jet which is located after the throtle valve.
Economizer Jet. Economizer jet works to make gasoline more homogeneous or better mixed with air. This channel is located in the middle of the idle channel.
Idle Jet. the Idle jet function is to flow air from the air filter leading directly into the intake manifold (without passing the throtle valve). It’s mean, the idle jet will play a role in idle RPM engine settings.
Throtle Valve. on a fixed venturi type carburetor, a throtle valve shaped like a coin. These spherical valves normally close the air ducts within the intake.

Start Your Engine (At Least Try) Confirm that the fuel valve is on, there's gas in the tank and the spark plug is in good shape. Shoot a one-second burst of aerosol lubricant or carburetor cleaner down the throat of the carburetor.
Test for Gas at the Carburetor. Clamp off the fuel line. Compress the spring clamp and slide it backward on the fuel line. Pull the tubing off the carburetor nipple and catch the gas in a small bowl.
Remove the Carburetor. Use a socket or nut driver to remove the two bolts that hold the carburetor to the engine. Unhook the throttle cable from the carburetor linkage.
Check for Corrosion. Open the carburetor bowl to check for corrosion. Note: If the inside of the carburetor is corroded, it needs to be replaced. Even after cleaning, the corrosion will clog the jets and tiny orifices and restrict the flow of gas.
Dissect the Carburetor on Your Workbench. Start the disassembly from the bottom (bowl, float, needle, seat, etc.) and keep all the parts together. Pro tip: Shoot digital photos for help during reassembly.
Clean the Parts. Wire all the larger parts together and drop them into a bucket of carburetor cleaner. Wrap the small parts in a piece of aluminum screen or use a fine-mesh basket, and drop them in the bucket as well.
Reassemble the Carburetor. Rinse all the parts with water and blow them dry with compressed air. Reassemble the old and new carburetor parts and mount it on the engine.

Removing the Carburetor. Disconnect the spark plug lead and secure it away from the spark plug. Then, remove the air cleaner assembly. Turn off the fuel valve at the base of the fuel tank.
Disassembling A Float-Type Carburetor. Your carburetor contains a small amount of fuel. Prepare a clean bowl to catch dripping fuel and store small parts.
Inspecting the Carburetor. Soak metal and plastic carburetor parts in all-purpose parts cleaner for no more than 15 minutes to remove grit. Or, while wearing safety glasses, spray the parts with carburetor cleaner.
Inspecting Air-Fuel Mixture Screws. Brass mixture screws control the air-fuel mixture at high speed and at idle. Over tightening can damage the tip of the screw so that proper adjustment is no longer possible.
Reassembling the Small Engine Carburetor. Install new welch plugs from your repair kit using a pin punch slightly smaller than the outside diameter of the plug.
Attaching The Carburetor & Air Cleaner Assembly. Position the carburetor so the beveled edge fits into the fuel intake pipe and attach the carburetor with nuts or bolts, as required, leaving these fasteners loose for final tightening with a torque wrench.
