1/2 pound bulk Italian pork sausage
2 medium carrots, finely chopped (1 cup)
1 medium green bell pepper, chopped (1 cup)
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
16 ounces uncooked spaghetti
Shredded fresh Parmesan cheese, if desired

Steps:

  • Cook beef and sausage in 10-inch skillet over medium heat, stirring frequently, until beef is brown and sausage is no longer pink, about 8 minutes; drain.
  • Mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients except spaghetti and Parmesan cheese in 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low heat setting 8 to 10 hours.
  • About 20 minutes before serving, cook and drain spaghetti as directed on package. Serve sauce with hot cooked spaghetti and Parmesan cheese.

1 jar (24 ounces) tomato basil pasta sauce
1 can (14-1/2 ounces) Italian diced tomatoes, undrained
2 jars (6 ounces each) sliced mushrooms, drained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 jar (3-1/2 ounces) prepared pesto
1-1/2 pounds chicken tenderloins
1 medium sweet red pepper, chopped
1/2 cup chopped pepperoni
1/2 cup pitted ripe olives, halved
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1 pound Italian sausage links, cut into 1-inch pieces
1 medium onion, chopped
Hot cooked angel hair pasta

Steps:

  • In a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker, combine the first 11 ingredients. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and onion; cook and stir until sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender. Drain. Add to slow cooker., Cook, covered, on low 6-8 hours or until chicken is tender. Serve with pasta. Freeze option: Do not cook or add pasta. Freeze cooled sauce in freezer containers. To use, partially thaw in refrigerator overnight. Cook pasta according to package directions. Place meat mixture in a large saucepan; heat through, stirring occasionally and adding a little water if necessary. Proceed as directed.

2 lbs hot Italian sausage
1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
1 orange bell pepper, chopped
6 garlic cloves, nicnced
2 onions, chopped
3 stalks celery, chopped
8 ounces sliced baby portabella mushrooms
1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 (14 1/2 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
3 beef bouillon cubes
3 bay leaves
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
1/4 cup fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 cup beef broth
1 cup red wine

Steps:

  • In a large stockpot cook the sausage, yellow bell pepper, orange bell pepper, garlic, onion, and celery. Cook until sausage is no longer pink. Drain into a large colander to drain grease.
  • To the large saucepot, add the mushrooms, tomato sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, bouillon cubes, bay leaves, thyme, oregano, basil, crushed red pepper, black pepper, sugar, and beef broth and stir well. Pour the meat mixture into the pot. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 2 hours. Salt and pepper to taste to pull flavors together toward end of cooking time.
  • Serve with Spaghetti or favorite pasta.

1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 medium onion, chopped
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 cans (14-1/2 ounces each) diced tomatoes, undrained
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 cup minced fresh basil, divided
Hot cooked pasta

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook sausage and onion over medium heat for 7-8 minutes or until sausage is no longer pink and onion is tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Drain. Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker., Stir in the tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste, brown sugar, bay leaves, oregano, dried basil, salt and thyme. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours., Discard bay leaves; stir in half of the fresh basil. Serve with pasta. Top with remaining basil.

1 pound lean ground beef
2 (28 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes
2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste
1 large onion, chopped
4 stalks celery, chopped
2 green bell peppers, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
15 fresh mushrooms, sliced
5 tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
4 bay leaves
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound spaghetti

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, brown beef over medium heat until no longer pink; cut up any remaining chunks of beef and reserve.
  • In a large saucepan, combine whole tomatoes and paste; mash until smooth. Cover and heat on low.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, quickly sear onion and celery until transparent; add to tomato sauce in saucepan. In same skillet, saute bell peppers and mushrooms for a few minutes, but do not allow them to become soft; add to tomato sauce.
  • Add Italian seasoning, dried red pepper flakes, bay leaves, basil and garlic to tomato sauce; add beef and mix. Remove cover, simmer over low heat and continue to simmer all day, stirring occasionally.
  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
  • Add sauce to pasta; serve.
