This Slow Cooker Pork and Noodles could not be any easier. Sometimes in our crazy busy lives we just need a few recipes that will allow us to keep our sanity and our hair. I am raising a couple of teens and let me tell you it is exhausting.

Provided by Beth Pierce

Categories     Pork

Time 4h35m

Number Of Ingredients 13

2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 c all purpose flour
1 pork tenderloin (1 1/4 - 1 1/2 lbs)
1 can french onion soup (10.5 ounce)
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
2 Tbsp water
2 Tbsp cornstarch
2 c egg noodles uncooked ( i use the amish egg noodles)
3/4 c water
salt and pepper
1 Tbsp fresh chopped parsley

Steps:

  • 1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Roll the pork tenderloin in the flour and cook in the skillet until browned on all sides.
  • 2. Place the browned pork tenderloin in the bottom of the slow cooker. Add soup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and onion powder. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until tender. Turn the slow cooker to high in the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • 3. Stir water and cornstarch to create smooth paste. Remove pork from slow cooker and plate. Whisk cornstarch mixture into slow cooker. Cover and let cook and thicken for 10 minutes. Shred pork and return pork to slow cooker.
  • 4. Add egg noodles and water to slow cooker making sure the noodles are pushed down into the liquid. Cook until noodles are tender; approximately 30 minutes. Do not overcook.
  • 5. Salt and pepper to taste. Top with fresh chopped parsley and serve.

SLOW COOKER PORK ROAST

Slow Cooker Pork Roast image

You'll hardly believe this dish came out of a slow cooker. Searing the meat and coating it with a fresh herb paste gives this roast a good head start. A little rest and some fresh parsley and egg noodles ensures a great finish. Serve with roasted or mashed potatoes if that's what your crowd likes.

Time 9h40m

Yield 6 to 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 17

3 tablespoons fresh rosemary leaves
3 tablespoons fresh sage leaves
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
5 tablespoons olive oil
One 5- to 6-pound boneless pork shoulder with a fat cap
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup dry white wine
2 large cloves garlic, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
4 large carrots, cut into rough 1-inch chunks
4 celery ribs, cut into 2-inch-long pieces
1 large onion, trimmed but left intact at the root end, cut into eighths
2 bay leaves
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
3 to 4 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
Buttered egg noodles, for serving

Steps:

  • Coarsely chop together the rosemary, sage and thyme, and transfer them to a small bowl. Add 2 tablespoons of the oil, and stir to combine.
  • Score the fat cap of the pork shoulder in a crosshatch pattern, then rub it all over with 2 1/2 tablespoons salt and 2 teaspoons pepper.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the remaining 3 tablespoons oil, and heat until shimmering. Add the pork, fat-side down, and brown it well, 3 to 4 minutes, then brown it all over, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Transfer the pork to a large plate.
  • Add the wine, garlic and allspice to the pan, bring to a simmer and reduce by about half. Set aside.
  • Put the carrots, celery, onions and bay leaves in the insert of a 7-quart slow cooker. Rub the herbed oil all over the pork, being sure to push some into all the natural divisions between muscles; place it on top of the vegetables, and pour in any collected juices. Add the reduced wine mixture and the chicken broth, cover and cook on low for 8 hours.
  • Transfer the pork to a cutting board, and tent with foil. Transfer the vegetables to a serving platter with a slotted spoon. Discard the bay leaves, and tent the vegetables with foil. Pour the juices into a liquid measuring cup, and let them settle for about 10 minutes. The fat should rise to the surface; spoon off as much as you can, and discard. Pour the juices into a small saucepan, and bring to a boil.
  • While the juices boil, make a cornstarch slurry: For every cup of juices, mix 1 teaspoon cornstarch into 1 tablespoon cold water until dissolved. Reduce the heat so the juices are simmering, whisk in the slurry and cook, whisking frequently, until the sauce has slightly thickened, about 5 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons of the parsley. Season with salt if necessary.
  • Slice the pork against the grain into 1/4-inch-thick slices, and arrange on a large platter with the vegetables. Ladle some of the sauce on top. Season the meat with a pinch of salt, and garnish with the remaining 2 tablespoons parsley. Serve with egg noodles, and pass the remaining sauce.

FIVE SPICE SLOW COOKER PORK WITH NOODLES

Five Spice Slow Cooker Pork with Noodles image

With a nod to the sweet, savory flavor of char siu (Cantonese-style barbecue pork), this set-it-and-forget-it-style slow cooker recipe yields wonderfully tender pork shoulder that pairs perfectly with Chinese egg noodles.

Provided by Food Network Kitchen

Categories     main-dish

Time 6h25m

Yield 4 servings

Number Of Ingredients 13

3 pounds trimmed pork shoulder
1 teaspoon Chinese five-spice powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt
3 cups chicken broth
1 cup dark soy sauce
1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
4 scallions, cut into 2-inch pieces
1 garlic head, halved
1 (2-inch) knob unpeeled fresh ginger, thinly sliced
8 dried shiitake mushrooms, optional
Hot cooked Chinese egg noodles, for serving

Steps:

  • Rub the pork all over with the five-spice powder and salt. Add the chicken broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, and red pepper to the slow cooker. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the scallions, garlic, ginger, the mushrooms, if using, and the meat, turning it a few times to coat. Cover the cooker, set it on HIGH, and cook for 4 hours. Set the cooker on LOW and cook until the meat is very tender, at least another 2 hours (6 hours total).
  • Transfer the pork to a platter, cover lightly, and let rest 15 minutes. Meanwhile, pour the cooking liquid into a measuring cup and skim off and discard the vegetables and fat that rise to the surface. Slice the meat and serve warm or at room temperature with noodles and the sauce on the side.
