Play - Redguard. The people of Hammerfell are the last of Tamriel's races to have heightened skills in Alteration magic. Their natural heightened resistance to poisons are a secondary benefit, as werewolves can still be poisoned while transformed.
Avoid - Khajiit. Cat lovers despair, but Khajiits and werewolves just don't mix well. They don't have access to Alteration magic, giving the usual defensive disadvantage when transformed.
Play - Argonian. How does a lizard become a dog? Contract lycanthropy, of course! And surprisingly enough, Argonians do have a slight aptitude, should they undergo the condition.
Avoid - Imperial. The native people of Cyrodiil are surprisingly adept at some schools of magic. Surprisingly, and unfortunately, Alteration is not one of those schools, meaning that any Imperial werewolf will still be at that slight defensive disadvantage when they transform.
Play - Dunmer/Dark Elf. Dunmer, like Bretons and Altmer, also have the advantage of Alteration skills, and by extension, access to the many armor spells.
Avoid - Bosmer/Wood Elf. Bosmer also lack any skills in Alteration, and therefore armor spells. So like many of Tamriel's non-magical peoples, they'll also be at a slight disadvantage when it comes to defense.
Play - Nord. Like Orcs, Skyrim's native populace lacks any adept abilities in Alteration skills, meaning they'll also be at a defensive disadvantage when transformed.
Avoid - Breton. Like High Elves, the people of High Rock have some natural skills in Alteration magic and spells. This means if any of the armor spells are cast before transformation, they'll only add onto a werewolf's naturally high defenses.
Play - Orsimer/Orc. Skyrim's Orc population don't have naturally heightened Alteration skills, and by extension, don't have easy access to the armor spells.
Avoid - Altmer/High Elf. As one of Tamriel's magical peoples, Altmer have early access to better Alteration skills, and by extension, armor spells: Oakflesh, Stoneflesh, and so on.
