Number Of Ingredients 14

1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

About 28 wooden sticks with rounded ends, if desired
1 ounce semisweet baking chocolate
1/2 teaspoon shortening
About 56 candy-coated chocolate candies

  • In large bowl, beat granulated sugar, brown sugar, peanut butter, butter and egg with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Wrap dough in plastic wrap, leaving ends open. Roll dough into log, about 7 inches long. Pinch along top of log and plastic to form one corner of triangle. Roll log over; pinch again to form second corner. Roll log over; pinch again to form third corner. Straighten sides of log to form a triangular-shaped log. Close ends of plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 2 hours.
  • Heat oven to 375°F. Unwrap log; cut into 1/4-inch slices. Insert 1 inch of wooden stick into a corner of each cookie. Place slices about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Reshape cookies if necessary. Insert 2 pretzels into top of each cookie slice for antlers. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
  • Line plate with waxed paper. Place chocolate and shortening in small microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on Medium (50%) 3 to 4 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes, until mixture is smooth. SWEET AND SALTY REINDEER POPS

Sweet and Salty Reindeer Pops image

These sweet and salty Reindeer Pops make an adorable addition to any holiday cookie plate!

Categories     Christmas     comfort food     dessert     snack

Time 1h30m

Yield 16 servings

Number Of Ingredients 9

1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1/4 c. powdered sugar
32 round, buttery crackers, such as Ritz (1 sleeve)
16 wooden popsicle sticks
10 -12 oz dark chocolate bars
16 red candy-coated chocolate candies, like M&Ms
32 small candy eyeballs
1 c. mini pretzel sticks, broken into 1/2-inch pieces
Flaky sea salt, optional

Steps:

  • Place the peanut butter in a medium bowl. Sift the powdered sugar through a fine mesh strainer over top of the peanut butter. Using a rubber spatula, stir the peanut butter and sugar together to make a smooth, somewhat stiff mixture.
  • Spread about 1 teaspoon of the peanut butter mixture on half of the crackers. Press the wooden sticks into the peanut butter mixture, then top each with one more cracker. Press the crackers to stick them together. Place in the freezer for 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, chop the chocolate bars into small, similar-sized pieces. Place in a bowl set over a pot filled with about 1" of water. (Make sure that the bowl does not touch the water). Place the pot on the stove and bring the water to a simmer over medium-low heat. Stir the chocolate occasionally, until it is melted and fluid. Transfer to a tall measuring cup, for easier dipping.
  • Line a large baking sheet with parchment or waxed paper. Remove the pops from the freezer. Dip one pop into the melted chocolate to coat completely. Remove and let the excess chocolate drip off into the measuring cup. Place the pop on the sheet tray and immediately place four little pretzel pieces up top (the antlers), two candy eyes just below, then one red candy nose. Repeat with all of the other pops. When the chocolate is shiny and still somewhat soft, sprinkle the tops of the reindeer faces with a pinch of flaky sea salt, if you like.
  • Let firm up at room temperature for 30-45 minutes. Store in an air-tight container in a single layer, between layers of parchment paper, in a cool spot in your kitchen or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

PEANUT BUTTER COOKIE POPS

Peanut Butter Cookie Pops image

A miniature candy bar is the hidden treat inside these cookie pops, which are fun for all ages. My sons brought these cookies home from school after their teacher made a bunch for her class. The kids loved nibbling them on a stick. Of course, the taste also was instant hit! -Martha Hoover, Coatesville, Pennsylvania
